Wranglers best hiker length short lives on...for the most part
You are here because you loved the old hiker length Wrangler shorts you could buy for cheap; the new style has changed a little but not too much. A few less features, a fairly hefty price increase. I was pleasantly surprised that they are basically the same apart from being a little more relaxed. They still hit the knee right; they still have the same cargo pocket with the white lining. The Good: Same Cotton weight Same inseam length Fit is a little more relaxed, not a lot. Snap is gone (Yay!) and they are back to the original military style button Olive drab color is pretty close (my pictures are hard to color correct) Clip art generic logo is gone The Bad-ish: No D-ring No zipper pocket (Sad about that) 1/3 more expensive (Very sad about that) The crotch is dropped about half an inch from the original, so they might hit your knee a bit lower

Good Shorts, I recommend
A reasonable fit, proper zipper length, heavy canvas fabric, plenty of pockets, a good inseam (8"), what more can I say. I bought 3 of the other colors last year. I am pleased with my purchase.

When they say relaxed they mean relaxed...
Lots of space for your legs and bum. Good quality cotton fabric I would suggest that they add a little poly to the blend so they would better retain their shape. Not bad for the price.

Not quite as good as original. But I'm short and the inseam is perfect and doesn't pull up in crotch and affect my jewels. All the stores went with the 10 inch inseam. And they hang way below knee. Stretch band nice. But still wear belt. Wear these everyday in the south. They wear out in a year. But the most comfortable shorts I've ever worn. Soft 100% cotton can't be beat. I must have 10 pairs. But will continue to buy these.

Durable shorts
A little stiff but after a few washes they have soften up a good bit. They seem to be very durable which is a plus with a teenage boy!

really good cargo shorts
There's not a lot to dislike about these very practical cargo shorts, if you don't mind they're not the most exciting color. It's hard to tell if the color is blue or green, it's so light and generic looking. They have 6 well thought out pockets, which is why you buy these in the first place. There's also a small extra pocket. The material isn't the heaviest, but it's in no way threadbare. Sizing was a perfect fit for me at a 32 waist without need for a belt. No trick elastic waistband to go bad. Something I really like is they are actually shorts. Many of the cargo shorts you will find are almost as long as beach pants. These ones have a 7 inch inseam. There are flashier, more expensive shorts on Amazon made with different materials that are similar to these in basic function. These ones have everything you would need for practical cargo shorts. I JUST noticed they've added 2 new colors that weren't available when I purchsed. Anthracite (dark grey), and Nutmeg (tasteful subdued yellow). These appear to be all larger sizes, at least at the moment. I forgot to mention these shorts are 100% cotton - which will be important to some people.

Good fit, casual wear
The overall design is fine with big cargo pockets, and the fit is good. Especially like the "hiker" length above the knee. Disappointed at typical department store casual quality fabric and seams, as compared with better-made Wrangler bluejeans. Not expecting much by way of durability and wouldn't take them on any real outdoors adventure. Not likely to repurchase.

Great quality
Used to buy Wind River shorts, until recently when no longer available. Tentatively ordered two pairs of Wrangler Utility Hiker shorts. Tried them on as soon as I received them and they are great, good fit, lots pockets, stylish and reasonably priced. Will definitely be ordering more when my "old" Wind River shorts give out.

if you keep things in the cargo pocket they tend to hit you right at the knee. but the fit was fine
