Best $80 I ever spent for reloading

This was a breakthrough in reloading for me, you put this baby on your drill press and leave it on and go to town. I was able to trim 200 pieces of 223 brass in less than 30 minutes and my hands weren’t even sore from loosening and tightening the shell holder on the drill. It also held consistent trim length throughout, I mic’ed every 5-10th one or so and it was bang on. Essential for any reloader doing any volume.

it'll do for a causal reloader

build quality is decent for the main device. have only tried on 223 casings thus far, and across about 50 rounds, i noted about .002 of variation. could've been my technique or the gauging/cutting mechanism. for the price and the fact it can do many calibers, it was a fair investment to an infrequent reloader.

Fast, accurate, easy if you know what your doing.

This tool is amazing! I bought it for 300blk ammo. I like to leave a little extra neck on the case when I run it through the chop saw. This tool allows me to accurately take that extra off quickly....like in seconds. The trim length is set by your case headspace....so if your length of trim varies its because your case headspace (which you have set with the fl die) is what is varying the trim length....not the tool. So make sure you get a accurate case headspace set, and this tool is beyond wonderful. I wouldn't suggest it for precision long range reloading, but if you want to crank out some ar rounds it is more than accurate enough.

Really quick trimmer

This trimmer is really quick for trimming range brass. I trimmed 400 pieces in lest than 1 hour it works great. Also a big fan of the fact that it's will trim all bottle neck cases from 22 caliber to 30 caliber

A Bit Challenging to Set Up

This is the 3rd product that I've purchased to trim cartridges. In my case, I only use it for .300 AAC Blackout, most usually, cases that I've cut from .223 Rem or 5.56 NATO brass. I like the ease of setting up the unit to trim. Select the right washer for the caliber, pick the bushing that keeps the case snug, but easy to insert and remove, and you're ready to trim. However, the adjustment for depth is not nearly as easy as promised. Further, once set, the results are affected by how much pressure one uses to hold the brass case in place. I've had results that varied 7-8 1000ths. I'm trying for 1.360", but it's rare to actually achieve that. It either comes out too long, or it comes out too short, and I haven't found any consistent reason for the differences. Too long I can deal with...one can always increase the trim, but trying to get an additional 2-3 thousandths is tough. But too short is just a frustrating waste of brass. In a few instances I've cut the case down to 1.350"...far off my intended target, but I'll still use it for plinking. Obviously, repeatability is the primary purchase of a "Precision Case Trimmer", and that's the main issue I have with this device. Precision it is not...but it is fast, and it is simple. I've used the Hornady Cam Lock Case Trimmer, and I've used the World's Fastest Trimmer, which is caliber specific. As to precision, the nod definitely goes to Hornady, but it also takes quite a bit more effort to turn out exquisitely trimmer brass. I probably prefer the WFT, but had some issues with my first case holder...a problem which was resolved in a very positive way by the manufacturer. I purchased the Frankford Arsenal trimmer while waiting for a resolution to my WFT issue. But for sheer ease of use...the Frankford Arsenal wins hands down. If I can master the art of setting it and forgetting it...not likely...then I'll likely trim all of my future cases on this device.

Good trimmer, fast and accurate

For bottle necked cartridges, this works great! It's not for pistol ammo and even the 300 blackout struggles due to its tiny shoulder, but for my 5.56/.223 ammo and my 30-06 it works great. After getting used to how it works, I can trim brass all within .003" of each other. My technique is to run the case into the trimmer with my old craftsman drill at full throttle (it doesn't run as fast as a newer drill) and when I feel the trimmer is no longer trimming(yes you can feel it), I give the case a twist and then pull it out. With a little practice you can get pretty consistent results. I just wish it worked a little better for my .300 blackout

It Works but Jury Is Out

It does work to a degree. Don't expect your cases to be squared at the top after trimming unless you get a routine of rotating it and holding it just right and have your collet set up just right. Not saying that it won't work for you. It does not really meet my standards of having the case trimmed squared. I have other trimmers that have the same problem. I went back to my Lyman that I have to trim rotate about a third of a turn trim and then do it again to square the case. Bit of a pain but I want squared cases. If one wants to trim fast for plinking ammo or can get a rhythm to work better than I did this might be right for you. I will be using this again on my .223 Rem Brass and may have better results. I am not as finicky on my AR-15 ammo and on a smaller case neck there should be less error in trimming.

Easy to use when set up.

Having a load of assorted calibre brass and didn't want to spend hours using my Lyman manual trimmer I watched a few videos on various types of auto cutters. There seem to be a few starting at £250 plus, but I thought I'd try the Frankford Arsenal trimmer for the price if nothing else. My advice is to watch the video first, it gives you a step-by-step instruction on assembly and adjustment. I trimmed .223 cases first and found the micrometer adjustment a bit more than it says in the video and I sacrificed a couple of cases before I backed it off to get it to the length I wanted. Maybe this problem was me. After that it was straightforward. After a few cases I noticed that as the drill starts, the trimmer outer body turns under tension in the direction of the cutter as the cutter engages, when it has cut the case to the correct depth the outer body relaxes, and you stop the drill. I used this as a guide and it worked every time, saves you draining the drill battery. I checked the first 50 cases as they were cut and they were all within 1 thou and at least half were within half a thou, I trimmed about 300, checked every fifth and they were all the same. As I say, I've only used the trimmer on .223 cases but I see no reason why it won't have the same results with larger calibres. It looks to be of good quality, my only question in the long term (if any) would be the case body collets which are nylon, but I'm sure they can be ordered as spares from FA. All in all it seems an excellent tool and I thoroughly recommend it.

Fast, Easy, Precise

This is by far the easiest and most accurate case trimming tool I've ever used and I've used a few. Set-up is very quick, and once you get the hang of pressing the cases in straight, it is extremely repeatable. The vernier marks make small adjustments easy as you dial in each batch of brass. Some adjustment is needed batch to batch and depending on how you size (full or neck) because the position of the shoulder to the base can be variable and this cutter works from the shoulder to the neck.
