quiet vacuum, but powerful

Our Dyson was stolen along with our 2020 Bentley. Bentley recovered, but no vacuum. Bought this Sanitaire and our maid says it is twice the vacuum as was the Dyson. Franchette highly recommends!!!

Made of CHEAP PLASTIC! It is NOT for commercial use!

The thing worked well. The power cord attachment placement is annoying, but plenty long enough for commercial use. But despite treating it VERY gently & NEVER handling it roughly, the bag BROKE OFF at the base after only 4 months of use. This is a different model than we have used in the past 45 years, but the third Sanitaire to break apart from cheap plastic parts in 2 1/2 years. DO NOT BUY IT unless you have money & time to burn.

Well built with a few minor flaws...

The media could not be loaded. Before I get started, I do like this vacuum cleaner! Most of this unit seems to be well made metal construction. It’s a simplistic design, simple durable functionality. However... as I was putting it together I noticed 3 minor flaws. 1. Flipping over the main head of the machine you’ll notice the area where the bag attaches to the main head is entirely made of plastic, as is the bag vent/housing that attaches to the plastic port on the main head of the unit. A foam gasket was used and stuck on with double sided tape where the exhaust screws to the plastic manifold. This gasket had slipped off center because the double sided tape didn’t hold well, and therefore when I screwed the two pieces together there was a gap where air, debris would have leaked past. So, I had to remove the screws and recenter the gasket and screw it back down again. A rubber gasket would have been nice where the foam gasket was used. And the I’m not entirely sold on the plastic vent from the bag which bolts to the plastic manifold/head, I guess time will tell if it will last or crack in that area. 2. The main handle/shaft set of holes were not drilled properly and therefore out of alignment, thus I was unable to get the sleeved nut to slide through the hole in the shaft, as it was drilled off center causing one of the holes of the handle to not fully line up. So, I drilled it out myself, see the photos. It really didn’t take much, it was easy enough, so if you end up getting the same defect by some chance, just make sure you take the handle out of the vacuum cleaner before you do drill it. Be sure to clean up all the metal shavings because they can cause a lot of trouble if you get them under the skin etc. wear safety glasses. I used a wet paper towel to clean up the small amount of metal debris afterwards. 3. The height knob seemed loose and was not lining up, I didn’t have a Star Allen set so luckily I was able to get it to turn all the way back by picking up the unit and making sure the plastic wheels are off the ground and no pressure on them, from there the knob got much looser and I was able to turn it to the correct setting. By the way, one set of these wheels are very nice rubber, the other set is plastic. I’m a fan of the rubber non-marking wheels. I’m not sure rubber would have worked on both sets, if so it would have been nice to have all 4 wheels non-marking rubber wheels. Ok, that’s about it excuse the video, my daughter insisted on helping me out with the review so I was thrown off mark a bit, but she helped get me back on track. Probably should have extended that 20’ industrial cord a little bit more before she started vacuuming, but all turned out well. Nice vacuum after the minor issues were addressed during assembly. A powerful commercial vacuum cleaner

I have always been impressed with Bissell / Sanitaire vacuum cleaners. The Sanitaire line is mostly designed as commercial vacuums for cleaning large areas. Thu, they have powerful motors that generate lots of suction. This is my second Sanitaire vacuum, the other still works extremely well. My house is quite large so it is best to keep a vacuum on the lower level. I have 2 Siberian Huskies, so.... fur. And carpet. This vacuum has a 50' cord so it can run for a long distance. Unlike some Sanitaire vacuums, this one uses disposable bags, which I like a little more than reusable bags that you must empty. (It uses Sanitaire ST bags or compatible.) The vacuum weighs about 23 pounds so it is not a vacuum you want to carry over long distances. It is medium loud (about like a medium-loud TV volume.) It has a two speed motor so you don't need full speed if you are doing frequently cleanings. Unless, well, that whole Siberian Husky thing.... Given the weight of the vacuum, this is intended for long, straight passes on your carpet. Not that little 5 foot passes that many people do. Since it is heavier, it is not as maneuverable as my old Dyson, so I run it in straight lines forward and back as far as I can. That gives me the best results with the least amount of effort. And, the carpet has that professionally cleaned look to it when I'm done. In terms of attractiveness, well, it is not all that attractive. It is an old-school vacuum cleaner like my mom had. It works and it works quite well. I have been happy with it. It cleans up the carpets and pulls the dog hair out as well or better than my older Dyson vacuum, which looks great, but is not quite as powerful as this one. On the whole, this is not a cheap vacuum, but it is very well made and works quite well. Much better than most of the cheaper, similar looking vacuums you will find on here. I have yet to have a problem with my Sanitaire vacuums, so I can't say much about their service after the sale, but I do like them a lot.
