This tape actually sticks

I re-taped a set of ENVE wheels this spring and was having a heck of a time. Neither the ENVE tape nor the DT Swiss tape I had was working. The issues was the tape not sticking well enough, lifting, and allowing sealant to get under the tape, into the rim, and then it would leak out around the valve stem (which it's supposed to, if you pressurize the internals of the rim it could crack). I cleaned the tape surface very well with water, goo gone, then alcohol and let it dry for a day both times I attempted this and got a failure every time. Finally bought Muc Off tape after reading reviews and by God it stuck like a charm. My tire actually sealed air tight before even adding any sealant. Hat's off Muc Off. I'm throwing away all my other rolls of tape and will never go back.

Great tape

I've used many brands of rim tape, while they all may be similar this one's pink. What's better than throwing some pink tape inside your wheels that you'll never see. Works better than gorilla tape. Could easily do three or four rims with one pack. Would recommend.

TESTED – Conclusion: Skip and get Stan’s Rim Tape instead

I’ve red lots of good reviews about the Stan’s No Rim Tape, but I decided to give Muc-Off a chance to beat Stan’s. Unfortunately it didn’t work so well. I purchased the 30mm Muc-Off Tape for my brand new Carbon 30mm internal rims. First of all the tape feels pretty thin. Second it was kinda difficult to apply without leaving bunch of air bubbles. I had to reapply it multiple times until there was almost no air bubbles. Then after I was done, I mounted the tire and applied 125ml of Orange Seal Endurance Sealant and it was still leaking air out of two spokes. After some time, one of the spokes stopped leaking air but the other never did. So I decided to redo the whole thing once again. When I removed the Muc-Off rim tape it left lots of glue and pieces of tape that it took me over 45 mins to remove with Goo Gone. To reapply the second time it took me even longer than the first since I had to be extra careful that it seals the rim really well. After I was done and I mounted the tire and applied tubeless sealant once again it was leaking air again from a completely different spoke, but it stopped after some time. So I returned the product back and ordered Stan’s. You can tell right from the start that it’s a better quality and thicker tape. Took me less than 5 mins to apply it and I’ve tested it without the sealant the first time and it wasn’t leaking air anywhere. To it just seems like Muc-Off spends 90% of their budget into marketing and 10% towards product development. Not saying that all of their products are bad, but the once I tried so far weren’t any better than the competition.

Better then gorrilla tape

After my stock industry nine tape failed I tried gorilla tape. That ended up being a bad idea and it leaked right away. Skip the hassle and get this tape instead. It survived a month of whistler riding no problem. Great tape for the price.

Airtight!!! the box references a VHS of “Different strokes,” I would’ve much preferred Airwolf

Replaced some old Stan’s tape and this product is much easier to get it airtight, the product is thinner but stretchy It is easy to get the seal by keeping tension on when applying and wiggling for side to side. I filled the tire and seated the beads and left it sit for a couple hours to make sure it would hold air before I added the sealant. A couple rides in and it works really well with their sealant which is thicker than Stan’s.

Leaves sticky residue

The rim tape works fine, but it leaves a really sticky residue when you pull it off to replace it. It took me 30 minutes of scrubbing with alcohol and hot soap and water to prepare my rim for new tape. Other tapes work just as good and don't have this issue.

Makes a great seal

Works well tyres have held pressure very well since re-tapping the rim with this. Does the job.

It's not bad, but not amazing as I was hoping

Small note, this was my first time prepping a wheel to run tubeless, bike came with it set up but needed to replace a tire after nearly 18months, so let that help frame my level of experience first. The tape had good adhesion but it wasn't particularly strong, Stan's tape was already on the rim but dirty and a little worn so thought it best to replace the tape before adding sealant etc. The tape adhered to the rim but also came off very quickly and wasn't that flexible laterally as I needed to rework sections to remove air bubbles and have it flush all round. That made it difficult. However, because of it being a very plastic style tape (basically heavier, branded sellotape), when I made a small hole for the valve before feeding the valve through the tape tore and expanded to a larger hole than the valve bung (for context I used a pin to puncture and then the valve stem). This widening meant I had air escaping through the valve hole, but there were also leaks from the spokes around the rim. So I ended up ripping it all of and starting again. Same problem. Third time I decided to go round the rim twice with the tape and it finally managed to seal properly and finally have no air leaks from the wheel itself. So overall, yeah my technique could be called into question, but perhaps this isn't the best variant for an MTB wheel running tubeless. Local Evans bike shop where I went for the valves said in future use gorilla tape, so might give that a go next time!

Top quality tubeless tape!

Easy to apply tubeless tape. It's strong, lasts a very long time and hasn't failed on me once. I applied it with an overlap of approx 6-8inches across both sides of the valve hole and to finish off a short piece to seal the join of the overlap. The first time I applied the tape going tubeless, I didn't put a short piece sealing the overlap which was no problem as you don't have to but the overlap had started to lift and this should stop that from happening again. Managed to get roughly 5 x 27.5inch rims sealed with the 10m role and this role is my replacement. Highly recommend for a good price cheaper than most brands and works perfectly.

Tried cheaper brands, MucOff works!

I run tubeless tyres on a number of bikes and have various versions of this product i.e. different widths. Having set up a pair of eMTB wheels with another brand rim tape I was becoming frustrated with ongoing deflation, even though I was using Stan's sealant. I decided to clean everything up once again and changed to the Muc Off tape. Worked perfectly, again using Stan's. Highly recommended.
