Fits Older Version of Kohler K3385 EB Rochelle Toilet
This review is for Kohler 30668 Float Valve Kit for older Kohler K3385 EB Rochelle toilets. If you have a pre-1983/85 (I don't recall which year Kohler informed me they switched the internals on Rochelle toilets), then this is the kit you need to fix internal issues. The issue I ran into was the water constantly running from the fill valve. There is a small foam/rubber disk that cuts off the water inlet. Unfortunately, mine warped, and it would appear that the stream of water most likely wore away the brass inlet. So, even replacing the disk could not stop the water from trickling in. The only fix is to buy this very expensive brass & copper valve kit. This kit costs more than a new Kohler toilet, and this Rochelle toilet uses about 5 gallons per flush. As much as I like the style and performance, it is just not worth fixing for this price. Not to mention, you will save money every day that you use a 1.6 or 1.28 gpf toilet instead of this one. There is a plastic valve kit also available for Kohler Rochelle toilets, but it only works for the ones from the mid-1980s or newer (which has the water inlet on the opposite side of the flapper). I rated this part 5 stars, because it is the exact OEM equipment. It will fit perfectly into the correct Kohler Rochelle version of toilet, and it should last decades. However, you're really just better off buying a new toilet and saving money in the long run.

Brand new, easy to install
I have several Kohler toilets and I've repaired them as needed, usually by replacing the tank ball / flapper (Lavelle #425bp Eljer Red Tank Ball ) or by replacing the valve rubber components with theKohler GP30166 Float Valve Repair Kit for 3.5 GPF and Older Toilets . In this case the toilet kept running because the valve itself wouldn't tighten when trying to replace the gasket. So I thought I'd try this despite the scary "not new" review. I don't know what the fuss is about, but the product I got was clearly new. I was also concerned about installing this because I didn't find instructions on the web. However, installing this was a snap. The package included replacement (assembly / dis-assembly) instructions (I'll try to post them in images). The water supply is 7/8 and connects with one of these:Fluidmaster B1T09 Toilet Connector, Braided Stainless Steel - 3/8" Female Compression Thread x 7/8" Female Ballcock Thread, 9" Length (assuming your shut off valve is 3/8). I needed an adjustable wrench, a flat head screwdriver and I used a pair of tongue and groove pliers to tighten the brass ring shown above which connects to the white plastic part called a "hush tube." I also used some PTFE tape. In my case the shutoff valve on my wall didn't shut off. So I had to shut off the water to the house and replace the shutoff valve and supply hose too. All together took about an hour. Toilet now functions perfectly.

Perfect fit; great price
Always difficult and expensive to repair Kohler stuff. I have a Kohler 3385EB toilet. The flush flap did not always close. This is a genuine Kohler product and fit perfectly in my toilet. Problem solved. Installation was very easy, however the directions skipped a few steps, but common sense will guide you. Amazon price was significantly less expensive than the price at Kohler. Recommend! One more thing. Some reviewers comment the flush valve does not always close. I had the same issue. The lift write has a little too much play in it and doesn't always line up exactly to allow the flush ball to seat. Here's what I did. Cut a small piece of plastic straw, then use scissors to cut through the length of the straw. Then compress the straw and insert it through the lift write guides. This will take out some of the slack allowing the flush ball to seat properly.

sometimes EOM parts are not exactly identical.
Bought quantity of 3, but since these are older EOM parts they were slightly different but all worked. Two were identical but one had an additional adjustments on it. Wish they are had that adjustment.

Missing part
This is a partial review. Product arrived I. Good conditions and with no apparent defect. However when I’m taking inventory and begin my repair, I noticed a critical part (Clamp screw and gasket) were missing. See diagram on photo 1. Therefore I decided to put my project on hold before unassembling the toilet and wait for the missing part. This entire fill valve comes in a large Kohler box, within the box, there is a bag with all the smaller parts, photo 2. After unpacking this bag I noticed the clamp screw was missing

It fits!!!
I just installed this new valve into my older Kohler "Rochelle" one piece water closet and it works remarkably well even though this toilet is almost forty years old. Recommend using genuine Kohler parts - made this fixture like brand new again! Though the item is expensive - my wife and I are glad to have made this purchase due to the fine results.

I paid a King’s ransom to save an old toilet
Item was shipped from USA and arrived on schedule. Authentic Kohler OEM product. Sloppy packing. The bits and pieces of the float valve was placed in a box without protection or partitioning, clanking their way all through transportation, I'm sure. Most of the material is brass, so no harm done, I suppose. The project of replacing the float valve for my 35 year old toilet cost me $310 + border taxes + cost of hiring a plumber. My plumber thought I was mad to pay hundreds of dollars for an equipment part and offered to put in a new American Standard complete toilet for me for $300 including labour, but it would probably be white colour as there is no way to find a toilet to match up with a 35-year old Kohler set. I do not fancy an odd-colour piece in my bathroom, nor do I want to spend bigger bucks to do a complete makeover of the bathroom, and above all I do not want to add to the city dump if I can help it. This float valve was selling for USD295 when the chat line rep. on the Kohler website drew my attention it, so I was delighted to locate the same item at Amazon.ca, selling for C$310. My plumber has no prior experience with installing Kohler float valves, although he is quite famiiar with my Kohler toilet inside and out since he had been called in multiple times to fix one problem or the other. He took 15 minutes to remove the old valve from the tank (using a small hammer to knock loose some of the pieces that were stuck tight), and 40 minutes to install the new one. I watched the entire procedure. He never read the Instructions, but instead took note of each piece as he dismantled it and referred to the old pieces now and again as he assembled the new valve into the toilet tank. Adjustment to the two vertical tubes (connected at the top) was necessary so that they would sit properly on the two apertures on the bottom of the tank. This was done by squeezing the the brass tubes closer together, using some muscle strength. Another adjustment was made to the metal arm of the black ball. It needed to be bent down a little so that the water level is at the lowest necessary for an efficient flush. Adjustment of the water level took an extra 10 minutes. I am now using a water level lower than before. When the project was done, the valve performs in true Kohler form, quiet and efficient. Two weeks after I bought this float valve, the price was raised to $459 but has since been reduced to $380, and then to $310. It is now sold by Amazon directly. At $459 or $380, it only makes sense if you can install the thing yourself. Now that I've seen how it was done, I think it is definitely a DIY job. Just bear in mind that the person who is going to install the valve better be the one taking apart the old one. The only tool you need is the screwdriver. If the price goes back up to $459, don’t buy. Madness has a limit. Even at $310, I consider the price extortionist. It is after all an equipment part.

Too expensive
Expensive repair for an old toilet. Probably better to buy upgraded appliance

Replace the entire valve
This champlain model float valeve is for older model kohlers. I am very happy I actually bought this entire valve as opposed to replacing smaller pieces. The toilet had never worked as good for at least 8years!
