Saw results with-in 3 applications

I am very fair skinned, and has nice weather begin to break in the spring, and I broke out the capris and shorts, my legs were practically so white they glowed in the dark. After three applications of this lotion, I could see a difference, and the stark whiteness of my legs had been toned down significantly. I could see a “tan line” where I had stopped applying it. It was a very natural color, not looking like an orange spray tan or fake tanner. I did have a few spots on my thigh, where I had gotten careless, and it looked a little streaky, but on the parts of my legs that I took care to make sure it was evenly covered looked great. It did not make me look like I had a dark tan, but made me look a little healthier and not like a corpse. If you stop using it, it will fade. I did make the mistake of putting it on before a work out and my legs were dangerously slippery. After applying I made sure to wait 10 minutes or more before putting my clothes on, and had no problems.

Med-Dark gives a great natural looking glow, especially on extremely pale skin

I have very, very fair skin (as in NARS Siberia needs a bit of white mixer to actually be light enough to match me kind of "fair skinned") and while I enjoy my natural skintone I woke up the other morning kind of feeling having some kind of small tan/vaguely bronzed glow to my skin. I had gotten a sample tube of the St. Tropez Purity Brozing Gel a few weeks back for free, remembered I had it, and promptly went out and bought something for my whole body and got to work. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money and wanted something that wouldn't be an instantaneous dark bronzed look in the event I absolutely hated it. I figured I can always go for an instant tanning product later on if I liked it or felt like this wasn't enough color. I did look up the two different color options before buying and a lot of folks said the darker option gave a more golden-olive hue than the lighter which was more of golden-peach and that the lighter shade was very very subtle. Since I have naturally yellow toned skin I knew I needed to go for the darker option for it to not look weird or possibly orange but also that the darker shade would likely at least give me a bit of noticeable color on the first day - which it did! I prepped my skin as best I could (exfoliated the absolute life out of it and shaved the night before and then applied a very light and non-sticky moisturizer to my dry areas like elbows, knees, ankles, and armpits before bed) and then the next morning I went at it. I applied everywhere that my bra and panties don't cover, including my ears and armpits. The lotion is somewhere on the average to heavy side which is great for my dry skin but I'd imagine oilier folks may not like it. It does dry down and sink in relatively quickly (3-5 minutes) and I didn't notice any kind of residual feeling or texture after that point. There is a scent but I thinks it's pretty subtle and I didn't notice it by the end of the day. Color-wise this is FABULOUS; it's very natural looking and while not super bronzed and tan it's given me a lovely golden glow that I'd guess is around 2 shades darker than my natural skin color after two applications in a row. I definitely did notice a little color from only one application but I was curious how much darker I'd get from another and was pleasantly surprised that while also noticeablely darker it wasn't way too much color. Obviously from my own starting point I still look pretty fair skinned but it's less Vampire-Fair and more Brushed Gold-Fair and I like it a lot. There is a bit of streaking that I noticed but it's super minor and in some hard to reach spots for me so I'm chalking that up to it being a technique thing on my part rather than a fault in the product because places like my arms, neck, and shins look flawless in comparison to the slightly imperfect ones. One thing to note for anyone not used to self-tanners though - it is SUPER IMPORTANT to prep your skin properly before doing it or you will have so many patchy, streaky, strange areas. Elbows, wrists, feet, ankles, anywhere with thin or dry skin will grab the color strong so be sure you avoid those areas until you just have a little residue left from applying elsewhere and then lightly brush over those areas. I wasn't as careful as I thought I was and had to spend a few minutes sugar-scrubbing my dark elbows to get some of the color off. Overall Pros/Cons: Pros: - It's easy to use/hard to screw up - Genuinely gradual color - it's not going to turn you 2-3 shades darker on one application even if you are super fair like me - Scent isn't obnoxious - natural looking color - good value - over two applications I've used about 1/3 of the bottle for my entire body so at $8 a tube for something to try out I think that's great. Also I was a little heavy handed the first go so I probably could have used less than I actually did. Cons: - because it's not instant color it can be hard to tell where you've already put it. I'd suggest just trying to work in quadrants but it's not going to give you a super uneven color if you do overlap in places - It's subtle. For me this is more of a pro but I know some people like really deep tans so please be aware this is not going to give you that from one or two applications - it's somewhat heavy so there are going to be folks with certain skin types that just will not like how this feels. If that is the case - an alternative is the St Tropez bronzing gel is super lightweight and while not as gradual as this it will actually give you a pretty natural looking color (I got a sample in my Allure box that I used on my face with this on my body and it's stellar). In all, I think this is a pretty great subtle tanner that's beginner friendly or great for clowns like me that wake up one morning and decide "I got a bottle of sample tanner, let's buy something for the rest of me and dump them all over 2 hours before work and see what happens!" And pale skinned people need not be afraid of the darker option (but I'll still be afraid of the dark instant-tanners because man I've seen those go super dark).

I’ve used this product years ago but it was the darker version and it definitely was streaky and turned my hands and skin orange after one use. However, I got the light version this time and I have to say I’m very happy with the turnout even after two days. Obviously I’ve not achieved anywhere close to the color I’m looking for but just with two applications, I can see it’s buildable and I’ve only had a teeny tiny area that looked remotely orange and that was between my hand and my wrist from washing my hands right after applying, but was easily wiped away with a wash cloth and water. Now, I do have hyperpigmentation in the bends of my arms that turn orange, but again, wash cloth and water takes it right off. The key is treating this similar to a spray tan. I put regular lotion on my hands and places like elbows, knees, ankles, etc. when applying the tanning lotion I keep rubbing it in until my skin almost feels dry. No slip to it like when you first apply it. That helps with not being streaky, as well as keeping your fingers close together and moving in a circular motion so you’re not applying uneven pressure with each finger and creating streaks. I immediately wash my palms and then pat them dry, and allow the lotion to dry for a few minutes before I start bending my arms and legs as to not sweat so much while it dries. I can already tell a small difference and I know with continued use it’s going to turn out nicely! I doubt I’ll move on to the darker version any time soon or at all if this continues to build but it’s a very nice alternative to tanning with UV.

Makes people stop telling me I "look sick" at winters end (in Michigan)

I like the color that it gives my skin. The smell is barely noticeable once dry...... UNLESS you use it several days in a row to achieve a darker color vs every few days to maintain color. Then that self tanner stink will be noticeable (to at least you) every where you go, and no after what you do. I am super pale with lots of different colored freckles, and it looks fairly natural. A tiny bit "orange ish" when I did many days in a row at the start to erase some of Michigan's annual winter "sickness" look from my skin. . Also, skip the tanner mits, and just LEARN TO WASH YOUR HANDS properly!

Good for people who hate self tanning

I personally hate self tanning with a mouse or water. Especially the waiting game and the smell. This is easy and has a milder smell (although it still does smell like self tan) it does come out a bit streaky, but not nearly as bad as a self tan mouse would. I am extremely pale with red under stones and did not find this to be orange like most tanners

Great!

A lot of people complained about the smell idk if they just overly sensitive sense of smell or they used way to mich product but the smell just smelled like regular lotion. Granted I'm already naturally tan as I am a woman of color so i dont require a lot of product. I got this as my legs were looking kind of grey due to lack of sun after day one I already noticed a bit of color change.

Awful

Absolutely waste of money! Starting from stickiness after use (it is impossible to not have a shower after a few hours!! As it makes you so sticky) finishing with the streaks all over, patches, smears . So expensive and works much worse than the cheapest product from the discount store. I'll be returning. I would give a zero if I could.
