Fits everything but my cleaver
Lovely color, wood grain more pronounced than some other reviews, not sure if those experiences were quality control issues or counterfeit. Didn't expect the angle from left to right, possibly to accommodate angled bolster for another line of knives, but that doesn't affect usability for my purpose. Fit all my knives except my cleaver, plenty of room around the handles. Shun premier: honing steel, 9" bread, 8" kiritsuke, 7" santoku, 6.5" master utility, 6.5" nakiri, 5.5" nakiri. Shun classic: 4" paring, 3.5" clip point paring, 3.5" ultimate utility, 3.25" vegetable, 2.5" birds beak. Wusthof Ikon classic: 6" extra wide Cook's. Victorinox: Fibrox 8" Chef's. Generic: 7" Gyuto, kitchen shears

Not Scratch Resistant ????
It’s a nice heavy block, with a slight slant forward and to the left which is nice for easy reach. However, the block is only stained dark, not made of a dark wood, and lacks a veneer of dark wood at the knife insertion point. This causes it to get scratched up when removing, inserting blades. The scratches make the block look unsightly. Sigh… First world problems, I know. But still. ????

came slightly damaged, very small dent on one corner. The front surface is slanted. That is not clear in the posted materials.

Very happy with this purchase
Very happy with this purchase, almost returned due to delivery concerns, but reluctantly opened the box and was quite impressed with the fit and quality of this block, It is perfect for my extended set of Shun Hiro knives which three of them are at or close to the 10 inch mark - Very Satified

Edges around knife slots chip
Not super excited about this knife block for the price. I try to be as careful as possible when putting my knives away, but inevitably, I catch the edge occasionally and now it's looking raggedy. I've only had this block for a few months. Pretty disappointed. The only pro I can say is that it's pretty sturdy.

2x Damaged shipped to me. 3rd times the charm I hope
Shipped twice, damaged twice. Nothing wrong with box or packaging so it means warehouse storing it isn’t doing great job. 1st one had chips in the corners. 2nd had cracked corner. This means it’s being stored without best of care. Crossing my fingers for the 3rd to not be cracked. I really want this so I’m doing it all over again for the 3rd time. I have the exact same block but smaller so I needed more slots and I really want this one. Very stylish and keeps your blades pristine. The only negative feedback is that because of the darker “stain” color, it scuffs near the slots very easily. I’ve had mine for years and am extremely OCD when caring for my knives but it still scuffs showing a lighter color very easily. (See 3rd photo) This color is made for the Shun Kanso set, I know there is an exact block with an un-stained wood color made for the Shun Hikari set. I would definitely buy the light wood color block, however I’ve scoured the net and this darker color is the only one sold separately from the knife set. If you’re not a person that is overly careful inserting the knives then this isn’t the block for you. *update* 3rd time is NOT the charm, shipped again with dents and rubbed out corner, Amazon customer service will not do anything about it. Very disappointed, but will keep damaged product. Buyer beware, don’t expect item without chips and dents!! Posted photos of the 3rd one.

Nice block
Overall a nice block, looks better than most blocks. Chipping from knife removal definitely an issue over time. I keep my best knives in it. Color is different from picture but not enough to send back. Wish it had a space for a Chinese chef knife.

Stable and great looking. Very well made and a great match for my Shun collection.
Packing wasn’t great and there was some slight damage to a corner. Excellent quality and looks fantastic on our kitchen island. Makes a great home for my Shun collection.

Great block, bad packaging.
Im giving this block a 1-star not because i don't like it ( because i do) but because it came with a massive dent and other imperfections mainly from the way amazon packaged it. it came in a box 3-4 times the size of the actual block with little to no bubble wrap and the block itself just comes shrink wrapped. yes i could have sent it back but like i said i do like it alot and judging by the effort amazon put into packing it i didn’t want to send it back and get an even worse one. Now onto the block itself... i have alot of japanese knives that are 1/14 wide so i wanted a block that would accommodate those and not a bunch of steak knives slots that are useless in my opinion. There are a ton of huge knife slots to fit all of the big boys. Also i don't think i saw this mentioned anywhere but the block is constructed with a double angle forward and sideways i'm assuming to keep the knife edge away from the wood in the slot when the knife is not being used.
