not GMRS, i repeat - NOT GMRS (only FRS)

although Amazon lists this unit when searching for "GMRS radio", and the reviews and Q&A discuss that it is GMRS (general mobile radio service), it is NOT. It's FRS only. There's nothing in the product documentation that specifically says it, and furthermore I contacted Cobra directly and they told it is not. It's a low power FRS unit that does not transmit at the higher (5W and 50W) GMRS power level that requires an FCC license.

Great for trips including cruises

NO charger

Have not used radios yet but the instructions say to use ONLY batteries and charger supplied with units. Got batteries but NO charger. Cobra support told me that these units DO NOT come with a charger that any charger would work. The instructions are very misleading.

Worked fine for what I needed

My wife recently broke her leg. I wanted something to communicate with her when she was upstairs in our home and I was in my home office downstairs. It worked perfectly for this need. We did test it out for distance though and with lots of obstructions, it might have worked a mile away. I doubt there would be any instance that it would work for the 25 miles that it's listed for but we didn't try it in different situations. Again, it was perfect for our needs.

Roger beep

I have a problem with replacing the radio I use for traffic control . Figured Id get my own radio. This radio has Roger beep but not for the sender side. Most radios have beep to let you know "You" transmitted. This radio has not. Good they sell two for $50 so you can can hear your Roger beep.

Still works after 120ft fall

A perfect basic radio. Great range and really good audio quality. It even still works after I dropped it off of a 120 ft rappel. The screen came off but besides that it still works pretty well. I did upgrade to the rugged version after I dropped its and the little extra bit of protection does go a long way.

There when you need it!

I use this for communication with an elder who lives alone. She can call if something happens . She also has a home care safety button. But the walkie talkies are a lifeline. We have used them for the fires in California. As we had to evacuate during one of the fires. We can just keep in touch 24/7. We use low watt as I am close. This is a great product and good price. Delivery was good and good time. Thanks!

Couldn't be happier!

Excellent Product. I haven't checked out the distance here but it reaches where I need it to go. I talked to my neighbor across the street on it the other day when husband was over at her house. Brought it because hubby works outside alot and due to illness I am sometimes weak and need his help to get up or do something. Since we have only one cell phone it is a lifesaver and saves us the extra money on another phone. As we have a landline phone to use when he needs to go to store and can take my cellphone. The reception is very clear and the volume can be adjusted for those hard of hearing.We just charge ours at night.

Funcionamiento pobre

La verdad esperaba mejor funcionamiento. Alcance muy bajo en ciudad, la pila dura buen tiempo pero sin tener una referencia clara en el display se van a cero.

Corta duración de pilas recargables

Las pilas son recargables pero dura muy poco la carga, uno más que otro, creo que el problema fue un juego de pilas
