Very Good .. But Not Great
Okay, so I always used to purchase these Merkur blades -- Well, the ones in the plastic sheathing that were actually manufactured in Germany -- These are not quite the same (packaged in a cardboard sheathing and made in the Czech Republic). Yes, I was a little perturbed to discover that these were not the 'real deal' (or perhaps they are the 'real deal,' but Merkur has changed their manufacturing location for these). That said, after I let my annoyance fade I gave them a try. Now it's possible I was a bit mentally skewed when I tried them out because I knew that they were not my normal, tried and true German-manufactured blades -- So, at least as far as I perceived, these CZ blades didn't perform quite the same / as well as the German ones -- Regardless, I've tried many, many, many double-edge razor blades in my day and I find these are still the 2nd best ones to date (2nd only to the German made Merkur blades). Now, since I've been continuing to search for the actual, German made Merkur blades to no avail, these have become my new standard (unless I am someday able to find the German made ones). So in short, these are not made in Germany, but in the CZ -- But if you can't find the German ones like me, I do recommend these -- I've still found them to be better than any other non-Merkur double edge razor blades.

Great Blades!
I’ve used Japanese blades, these are better!

Quality has dipped a bit
I've sworn by these Merkur blades for years but unfortunately they've switched production form Germany to the Czech Republic and the quality as noticeably decreased - they don't shave as well as they used to. Bummer. Thinking of trying another brand next. (Note I love the CZ, just maybe not for razor blades...)

Great Value!
I still am using these razors. They have worked very well and am able to live closer to a plastic-free lifestyle, for much cheaper than Gillette or other disposable razors. I have been told I’m like my parents’ grandparents, and in this case, even if they think it’s weird today, I think it’s a good sign to see. It is different, it does disrupt the status quo, and is recalling a time when things were done correctly. It’s listening to facts and history and learning from it. So, overall, it is good.

Not a scam!
These blades are not made in Germany. They are made in the Czech Republic. They do not come in proper Merkur packaging with a hard plastic case for safe razor storage and disposal. Unlike the German blades, only the paper packaging mentions “Merkur” there is no branding on the blades themselves. UPDATE: I have contacted Dovo, the Czech owners of Merkur. They reviewed the photos I sent to them, and confirmed the blades and packaging appear genuine. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, they now only use paper packaging. The design on the blade has changed and now appears as depicted in my review. I have only used the new blades twice, so cannot speak to the longevity, but the quality of the cut seems ok.

Too Expensive For What You Get
My first safety razor was a Merkur and I was very happy with it. For that reason, I figured getting the blades from the same company would be an obvious choice. Without knowing any better, I would have said these were decent blades. However, after experimenting with other brands (I'm looking at you Astra Platinum), these blades are mediocre at best. They don't last very long and I find myself changing them every 2 days, as opposed to other ones where I can still get a comfortable shave 5 days later. They are not very aggressive either, so if you have sensitive skin, you will definitely appreciate them. I like a very close shave and they are simply not sharp enough for me. At a cost of approximately 60 cents a blade, there are less expensive blades out there that will deliver a better shave.

Just Not the same
had few packages left in the plastic case which came in handy when discarding them. They were made in Germany at that time. Lasted longer and gave a cleaner shave. Now they subcontracted them out the the Czech Republic in a move to save the bottom line. Where labor is cheaper is my guess ? To bad for Merkur in a effort to save the bottom line they have lost a loyal customer and a long time customer. Now looking into the blades made in Japan . Also an added cost to me is now a safety razor blade dispenser.

Terrific
They last a long time and keep a great edge. It is swiped on a rubber sharpener every shave and makes it through many shaves before becoming dull. My husband will have no other razor blades since I found these for him!!

Beware of where the Merkur razor blades are made- not the same quality!
We ordered our first set of Merkur razor blades, made in Germany that were sharp and of excellent quality. The next set we ordered were of poor quality and made in Czechoslovakia. We thought we made an error and ordered the wrong kind, returned them and ordered another set that was advertised as made in Germany. We received another inferior set of razor blades made in Czechoslovakia, unlike the original set made in Germany. We returned those as well. We will have to source a different company that has the same quality as the Merkur made in Germany brand. Disappointing

Garbage
I’ve been using Merkur blades for years. Got these ones and I noticed that the packaging was different and that they’re no longer made in Germany. These blades are beyond bad. With the German ones it’s one pass up and one down and your face is smooth. These ones feel like it’s struggling, almost ripping the stubble out. I’ve had better shaves from a Walmart brand disposable.

Not made in germany anymore.
My previous Merkur blades that were made in Germany, lasted at least 1 month per blade. These are made in the Czech Republic. These pieces of junk were dull right out of the box. I thought maybe I got a bad batch, and bought some from somewhere else. Also junk. Nothing like what they used to be. Not even close.

Great replacement blades for safety razors
I love my Murkur Heavy Duty Classic razer, and these Murkur blades do a good job and last a long time. As of the time that this review was posted, there are two options – Standard and Super Platinum. I believe the only difference is that Super Platinum is 3 x boxes of 10, while Standard is just one box. At current pricing, that makes the Super Platinum by far the better buy (50% higher price for 200% more blades). I ordered the Super Platinum, and did receive three boxes (despite the product title suggesting otherwise).

If you are looking for blades like the ones that came with your razor, these aren't the ones
I bought these hoping that they would be at least similar to the Merkur Super blades that came with my Merkur razor, but they are a much lower quality blade. The previous Merkur Super blades I have used were very firm and sharp but not as sharp as some of the popular ones made in Japan-- an excellent blade if you have thick or wiry facial hair. These ones, unfortunately, are very dull out of the box, and also relatively thin. I'm rating them on their own merits, not on my disappointment, but they still fall well short of a blade I would use again.
