Best poly suit/skin I've had

This is the third poly (polyolefin or polypropylene) diving skin I've had, which I use mostly for free dive training in a pool and, although I haven't tried it in the water yet, it seems to be in a completely different league to the others. The fabric is a nice weight, and has a much smoother feel. It just seems to be a better quality. All the seams are, thankfully, flat lock. The finish is far superior to the others, as is the quality of the zip. And I like the kneepads and spine pad. The stirrups are a good size. The fit is closer and more body hugging than the other two (but in a good way). It really is a second skin. The only minor quibble is the thumb loops that are quite small. As a comparison with the other two brands: the fabric weight is on par with the Hyperflex (but heftier than the Akona) but it feels "smoother" and better. While the Akona has flat lock stitching (unlike the Hyperflex!!), the contrast stitching on it was never a feature I particularly liked. The back zip on the Akona was nice when used as a stand-alone, but impractical to wear under a wetsuit/steamer (zip over zip. Ouch!). But the zip on the Hyperflex is not the most robust and there was a gap at the bottom of it (i.e., it wasn't finished properly), so that it kept letting water in and out. The thumb loops on the Hyperflex were ridiculously placed (I had to add some of my own), while the stirrups of the Akona were too fine and weak and stretched in no time (I had to reinforce them with some elastic).

I was expecting something more substantial such as a sharkskin. That said this suit worked well in the Caymans, Cozumel, and Florida for high 70's and 80's temps. Was not really 2 mm warmth. In Florida layered it with a 1 mm neoprene on deep dives with a thermocline and this was a nice solution but really not equal to a traditional 3mm. Will use for tropics and as a layer. Fit well.

First one lasted over 20 years. Still making the same design after all this time and quality appears to be top notch as before.
