Does what it’s intended to do
Always you to install the Squirrel Buster Plus easily on a 1 inch pole. The feeder can also be removed easily for filling or cleaning.

A Nice Addition That Confounds The Squirrels
I had my Squirrel Buster Plus hanging on a "Shepard’s Crook" style pole and while the squirrels were not able to get at the seed initially, I could see that their squirrel minds were working on a technique to lean out from that pole to the feeder without closing it. As a preemptive strike I purchased the Squirrel Buster Pole Adaptor. We have had this installed for over a week now and it has completely confounded the squirrels. The only way they can approach the feeder is from the bottom which closes the feeder doors and eliminates any possibility for them to defeat it. In just a few days they largely quit even trying and seem satisfied with the bird’s spillage on the ground. The guidance on what pole to use to mount the adaptor is a bit unclear but I settled on ¾” EMT (metal electrical conduit) from a big chain hardware store. A 10-foot piece cost around $6. It did require that I cut it to about a 7-foot length with a hacksaw and I did put a little duct tape around the pole to make the adaptor fit securely to the pole. I drove the pipe about 2 feet into the ground and it seems very strong and secure. Like other Squirrel Buster products the price seems a bit high but given the amount of seed I am saving I think it will be a bargain over time. Especially with the lifetime warranty that they offer.

Good luck finding a pole that fits
None of the hardware stores have a galvanized pole the right diameter for this. The pole mounted feeder I've used the past 20 years finally broke and the pole is just a little too narrow for the adapter. A bird supply store might have the correct size but I already have more than $150 invested in the feeder and have several shepherds hooks so buying this adapter was a mistake. Also, the connection to the feeder seems a little weak. A strong wind could possibly knock it off.

Well worth the money
Costly yes. Worth it, absolutely. We bought this for the enjoyment of out granddaughter and so pleased we spent the money. We are not in a tornado area of Illinois but have had 2 close calls this year already. The last storm took down a couple of trees in the public preserve we back up to. Our feeder stood firm. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Thicker than most and screws into the ground.

The trident achieves pole mounting for the best non-squirrel feeder
I own one squirrel buster feeder and gave one to each of my sons (three feeders total). I've purchased 3 of these tridents for the feeders and they're all in use. We used to hang our feeder outside the kitchen window, on a tree limb, but we were concerned that any seed that fell was an invitation to mice to explore around and into our house. So the trident plus a pole allows us to mount it away from our house and in a location where we can still see it. For good looks, the pole needs to be vertical. So, after it being at an angle through last winter (I put it into the ground too late and the ground was nearly frozen), I dug a hole and cemented the pole vertically. I can remove the top pole section, which has the trident and feeder on it, and fill the feeder - then replace the pole/trident/feeder. I don't think it would be as simple to try to lift the feeder off the trident and get it back on.

Ne fonctionne pas, doesn't work
Après deux jours un écureuil de taille moyenne a trouvé comment manger malgré que j'ai installé l'anneau et mis le tout sur un poteau de 12 pieds. Il monter le poteau. Il appuie ses pattes sur l'adaptateur et fait remonter la trappe du Squirrel Buster et arrive ainsi à manger. Il envoie des tas de grains en bas et 4 gros écureuils se régalent. J'ai solutionné ce problème en installant à 6 pieds (2 mètres) du sol un tuyau de sécheuse dur en stainless tel que montré sur youtube vidéo: "DIY Squirrel baffle: Simple and effective". Not squirrel proof at all. After two days a squirrel was able to eat even if my post it 12 foot high. Solution see youtube video: "DIY Squirrel baffle: Simple and effective".

Wasn't cheap, but it is solid.
I kind of thought the adaptor was included in the original purchase of the feeder, but with an additional cost of about 50 bucks, everything's in place now. It is a great system, just not cheap.

No pole...
.As it says... "Pole Adapter" so tough it has the pole with but... unfortunatly, no pole.... And with the high price, i would have add 3 pole... And dont even fit with yhe bird feeder Standard of the same brand... Useless
