An amazing product lost
We have been purchasing Parissa since 2012! I used to love it, but things are different now... so here is an honest to goodness pros and cons review, I hope you enjoy: The wax didn’t smell, it was uncomplicated in its ingredients and design, the strips were nice, the waxing itself is incredibly easy and efficient especially for an at-home kit! And the oil is strangely magical. For me, it’s the perfect amount of wax, but being on the small side, I can’t imagine anyone over 5’5 being able to do a complete body wax with this amount. Additionally, keeping the wax warm can be annoying and tedious as it cools too fast and requires a warmer or (for those without) a microwave (warmer is best! But it’s extra money). The process of transporting the hot sticky substance from place of waxing to setting can be dangerous and messy unless you have practice and are extremely careful! And unlike some other brands I’ve used, this brand of wax is very difficult to get off once it’s on... Though the oil is incredibly good on the skin and does the job of removing excess wax there’s a pathetically disproportionate amount of it in comparison to the wax, in fact the new spray version of the bottle gives even less oil then there already was, and that is quite ridiculous, especially in lieu of the fact that they recommend (and you’re supposed to be) putting on the oil for a few days post-wax care. Talk about a way to get people to spend more on your products— my advice: use olive oil or baby oil instead. The product could come with some extra sticks (like 4-5), and the companies choice of downgrading from a bikini stick as an additional tool to a popsicle stick, is cheap and rude. Because, yes, they literally threw in a popsicle stick. The wax does not fair well with reheating— after about the third reheat it loses its potency and can cause: broken hairs, which lead to ingrown hairs, and/or when applied, the wax will not remove the hair. Sometimes, the wax will just remain on the skin no matter how many times you rip, which causes immense pain, and is very frustrating. Regardless, of the many cons, as someone who has shaved a grand total of maybe 11 times in my whole life, waxing has made my hair grow back thin with many bald spots; this wax was part of that process. I don’t even worry about hair removal for a good 2-4 months! Unfortunately, that also came with a bit of a price. Towards the end of 2016 I noticed that when using Parissa wax, it began to smell funny, along with the sticks used to smear the wax. The wax didn’t bode well with my skin at all, and seemed to harm me more then do any good. I thought my box must have just been a bad batch, and promptly returned it to the store where I received a new one. To my surprise that was not the case, the next batch did the same and so on. To me, this indicated that there had been a change of ingredients. No surprise, the wax went from helping my skin and hair to making things worse. I began to suffer from folliculitis as result of the waxing, which has never happened to me before. The wax looked darker, my hair was constantly getting broken, it smelt funny, it just seemed....cheapened. As of 2019 I have completely switched to epilating and am now incredibly sensitive to certain things; though my skin remains somewhat damaged from use of this product, it has been doing a lot better without—but it’s a sad and sometimes depressing situation. Only one member in the house still uses this product (as the purchase indicates), because the same effects happened to everyone else using it as well, and around the same time too (and no, there was no sharing! Everyone gets their own wax kit, you shouldn’t share the product for sanitary reasons; so it’s nothing gross like that, it’s simply the ingredients). The product is now solely used on the arms by said family member who still holds on, and, luckily, there have been 0 issues with their arms! Nonetheless, this product went from being a genuine lifesaver, 5 Star product, and favorite beauty item, always in my home.,,to no more. I am dévasté by this, but that is life.

Hair removal is useful
A little troublesome, but very useful.

It does not replace the Body Sugar
Since the Body Sugar is discontinued, I bought this one. It is impossible to clean with water. Only the oil in the box can remove it. I will try to make my own wax.

Bring back the sugar wax ????
I used to use the sugar wax by this brand and it was awesome! I think they discontinued it so I tried this one out instead. Man! This wax is difficult to apply and very hard to remove. Even after showering I was still finding little patches of wax on me. Please bring back your sugar wax, I miss her ????

Messy, Stickey, but Effective
You have to put the jar in the microwave, but I had no idea how long to cook it. I first tried 1 minute, and then decided it needed another minute. Then you cannot touch it, because it is way too hot, so I put on my glove that I use to take out hot pans out of the oven, and carried it to the bathroom. I dripped it on my rugs, and its still there. I had a hard time to get the right amount of wax on my legs, since I'm not an expert at this. But I did manage to get a fair amount on my leg, and then I put the strip on top of the wax and pulled, and it did not hurt at all. But, for some reason, it did not work very good. I still had hair on my legs. So I tried it again, on the same area, and it still did not work correctly. So I just tried to put more wax on my legs, and tried it again, and it sort of works. I have had my legs professionally waxed, and tried to do it the same way the wax person did it, but I could not get rid of all of the hair. I'm not sure why this doesn't work the way it does in the salons. So . . . you can try it, and it sort of works, but its a total mess, you get it all over you, it drips on the floors/rugs, and its very stickey. I had left over wax on me for days.

How to: at-home Brazilian wax.
If you've been wondering if you can wax at home -- you can. If you've been trying to figure out just how to give yourself an at-home Brazilian wax -- learn from my experience! Plus, parissa is cruelty-free. You can't miss. How to: Step 1: Do NOT skip this step! You'll want to get your first wax professionally. It's painful (I mean, come on.. it's waxing).. but mostly it's painful because it's your first time and you have lots of hair follicles. Step 2: Repeat getting it professionally for a while. Your follicles will begin to damage over time and your hair will grow back more sparsely in a few months. Step 3: Begin practicing waxing yourself (if you're up for it) with those strips that are pre-waxed. Trust me! It's easier when you're trying to get up the courage the rip out your own hairs. It can take some convincing! I used these for nearly a year. It won't be as perfect as when you have it professionally done but it's great practice. You can periodically have it done professionally as well. Just keep practicing! Step 4: Once you've finally used to waxing yourself and want to try it.. use this warm wax. It works GREAT! Once it's no longer scary to wax your own hairs, you can concentrate on using a gooey wax like this. I love this one. It does a MUCH better job than the pre-waxed strips (also parissa). But you have to go about this one step at a time. Then you can start giving yourself professional-looking wax jobs at home. It works!

After the learning curve, this is life changing!
Like many other people in the world with body hair, I also embarked on the journey of attempting to wax myself during quarantine. After experimenting (mostly unsuccessfully) with drug-store cold wax strip and cooking my own sugar wax, I gave this wax a chance. I am here to share the wisdom I've collected over the last few very adventurous months. Get a wax warmer: Running to the microwave mid wax session is a nightmare, not to mention the money wasted if you dare microwave 7 seconds too long and end up with a rock-hard substance. Dedicate a towel to waxing: The wax is unbelievably sticky. It will reliably stick to the stubbornest of hair, but it will also (again reliably) stick to bedsheets, t-shirts, and any other unsuspecting household fabrics. Dedicate a towel for this long-term relationship with self-waxing sessions. Keep Corn starch or baby powder on hand: Helps to keep skin dry, but also great for preventing a transfer disaster. Any spills on the aforementioned towel should be powdered before they accidently stick to your elbow, and the pillow, and the wall... Mineral/baby oil: The provided oil works great if you are the size of Tinkerbell. It won't suffice for full-body. Have an oil backup to remove residue after waxing. Do not get up to walk the long journey to the bathroom while contaminated with sticky wax residue on any part of your body. Work swiftly with a steady hand to avoid dripping. (Surprise: Takes practice) Once you get the hang of it, waxing will be a practically-drip free experience. Caution around delicate skin: Did I mention this wax is sticky? It will pull off layers of skin from *delicate* areas. With that said, some tips will increase the odds of a successful wax down under. - Cut the strips into sections, and work with very small areas of skin. Be patient, your skin will thank you. - Get over the fear. Don't count to 10. Just pull the damn strip. Any hesitation will be enough time for the wax to cool down and rip off skin. - Use a mirror and find a comfortable position. The more comfortable and confident you are, the more successful the experience will be. In all honesty, I have grown to love this wax and can not see myself going back to salons. Once you are experienced enough, one tub of wax (and maybe two hours including cleanup) will cover for a full-body session. Congratulations on making it to the end of this review. You are now equipped with the knowledge to become a self-waxing goddess (or however you identify your new superpower). Happy grooming!

Wax on wax off.... It's that easy
After a debate discussing pain tolerance levels between men & women, we decided to purchase this in a battle of the sex's. And it's actually a very good buy! It removed all the hair in one whip of the strip straight off my fellas torso & I found out he owned nipples. (who knew) A little unfair on the challenge, as my chest was already hairless but still a great buy to watch him squirm through his tears as he suggests that the procedure is effortless & painless. However he bailed when it was time for the back sack & crack. But there's plenty left for another day It is messy like most wax products but it's got easy to follow instructions & is simple to use even for beginners. Absolutely recommended 5*

Works perfectly - but I got in a terrible mess.
First of all - it works. Very well indeed. I used it for facial waxing, and it hardly irritated my skin at all - the slight redness has already gone half an hour later, without having to use ice or powder to soothe it. (Caveat: other people's skin will vary.) But I have learned a lot in my first attempt at using the wax! Of course, these hints won't all apply to other parts of the body. 1. It took 2.5 minutes in the microwave on high before it reached the consistency of runny honey, after being stirred. The upper part can appear nice and runny while the lower part is still very stiff, so stirring and re-heating is essential. 2. Wear disposable gloves. Removing bits of wax from under my fingernails was very tedious. 3. For facial waxing, cut the long paper strips into smaller pieces in advance, so that you have a fresh, non-sticky, piece for each section of waxing. 4. If you will be leaning over the wash-hand basin to peer into the mirror as you wax, fill it with cold water first, so that drips of wax will "set" in the water and can be lifted out, rather than stick to the enamel of the basin from which they will have to be scraped off. 5. The tiny phial of blue oil which comes with the wax is effective at removing any remaining wax from the skin (although not so good on nails, basin, clothing etc.); but the vegetable (rapeseed) oil which I always have in the kitchen was just as effective, and will be very much cheaper. 5. Wear a plasticised apron, from which the wax can be wiped or scraped later - fortunately I have one in the house which I rarely use, which will now come in handy. I dripped some wax on my T-shirt, which is now soaked with oil in an attempt to remove it, and I doubt whether the oil stain will ever come out in the wash. I don't intend to destroy a T-shirt at every waxing! But overall I am very pleased with this wax, and will certainly continue to use it.

Perfect for brow waxing
This is the first time I’ve waxed my own brows, usually get them done professionally but this isn’t an option with the lock-down. Thought I’d try this out and wow I’m impressed. You get so much wax and paper for how much you pay it’s such good value for money. The wax is easy to use and the oil it comes with is great to help clean up if you’re new to waxing like me. My skins very sensitive and this did cause redness but almost all brow treatments do for me other than that it’s gentle and caused no irritation. I now have lovely brows again!

ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS ..
.. I cannot over state how useless this product is. For years I used the Parissa hob version to remove hairs on my upper lip and chin - but as my hob is induction I had to heat the metal pot in the oven which was time-consuming and expensive. However the product was excellent. When I saw there was a microwave version I presumed it would be the same formula but less labour intensive and far quicker to heat. Not so. The formula must be very different as it just does NOT work. Whereas previously the wax would show dozens of hairs had been removed, I’ve been lucky if this microwave version manages one or two. Also, it is SO SO sticky and is almost impossible to remove the residue from the face or from your hands if any gets on them. There is no way in a million years that I would recommend this product to anyone. I have since discovered (here on Amazon) ‘Smooth Appeal Microwave Formula Facial Hair Remover Wax’ which has been very successful, removes loads of hairs in one pull (no strips required) and leaves the face smooth. It’s also cheaper than the Parissa. I wonder why they couldn’t use the original wax in the microwave version? ..
