Beautiful and subtle

When we got engaged my now wife and I spent several hours looking for nice china. Too much of it was either very staid, or way too "look at me, I'm cool" for our tastes. When we saw the Sonora Knot collection from Kate Spade for Lennox, we were sold. The setting is white with a silver pinstripe around the inside of the rim and around the edge of the plate. Just along the edge is a border of white filled, gold hearts on a dark blue field. From a distance your just see the shimmer of gold and silver and the color play of the blue and gold mixing, but up close the detail is really beautiful. The accent plates for dessert are very very nice, with a triple row of hearts (approx 3/8" wide) around the outside of the bowl of the plate. As someone who has gone through culinary school and appreciates the atmosphere of a nice restaurant, I couldn't see most of the china patterns available having any flair, while working well for plating presentation. The Sonora Knot is great though. Just enough color to catch the eye, while not detracting from the food and giving a messy look. The dinner, salad, and bread plates are a nice size, the coffee cups are just delicate enough without feeling fragile, and fit perfectly in their saucers.
