They are definitely shorter than regular length, but still a bit long. I have a 28" inseam
The fit is really good, considering that have short legs. They are a good insulated pant, so perfect for 30 degrees fahrenheit and below. I'd wear a second layer on truly cold days. The downside is that they are not vented, so warmer days you'll be sweating. Also, they only have 2 pockets. No cargo or back pockets.

Cheap, comfortable and decently waterproof, but a pain to get on and off.
Let's start with what these pants don't have. These pants don't have zippered leg openings and instead have buttons on both the ankle gaiter and outer pant. These don't allow either layer to open up very much and make it very difficult to put them on with shoes on and nearly impossible with boots on. These pants don't have any vents, so while they are breathable if you need to quickly dump heat on a warm day you're out of luck. These pants don't use Columbia's Omni-Heat reflective insulation and instead use the traditional fleece + fill. The pair I saw at the Columbia outlet with the same name/price did use omni-heat, so it was a bummer these didn't. The big down side to this is that the fleece can get wet much easier than the omni-heat material when you're putting them on outside. On to what they do have. These pants are fairly waterproof, I'm not sure what the rating is on them(they're no Gore-Tex) but the first time I used them snowboarding was a rainy day that crept into the 40s and they held up well with only a minimal amount of water managing to force its way through the knees and butt. As for insulation and breathability I've worn them for extended periods in days ranging from the low teens to low 40s and have always been at a comfortable temperature wearing a base layer plus athletic shorts and tall wool socks under them. The inclusion of belt loops, an adjustable waistband and 2 zippered front pockets is nice. I would have spent some extra money on higher performance pants(preferably Gore-Tex) with better features had I known I would be using these as much as I have, but overall they've held up well to my use and abuse. Ohio tends to have warmer temps and wet weather, so these aren't quite water-proof enough if you find yourself sitting or kneeling a lot, but they'll do if you're not sure how much use you'll get out of them or plan on spending most of your time upright.

Great deal for the money
Great deal for the money. About the only improvement they could use would be skuff pads on the cuffs, although there is a small (1/3" wide) reinforcement of heavy material running around the bottoms of the cuffs. The two side pockets zip closed, and there are two snaps and a Velcro strip above the front zipper. The belt tabs are wide enough to easily accommodate a 2" wide belt. I wore only a base layer under them, and had no extra room in the waist (I measure 36" at the waist, 28 in. inseam), with the side Velcro tabs in the belt line as loose as they could be. They are just a wee bit long for me, measuring 30" at the inseam for the Large size. I was kept warm on a foggy, windy, 16 degree F. day, skiing very cautiously & moderately (my first day back after a long absence). After 3 hours of skiing, falling once, I noticed no water/moisture making its way inside. Your mileage will probably vary on a warm, wet, sloppy spring day. Try not to fall, eh, you hoser? I don't think you can beat this deal if you are looking for warm, durable, practical ski pants on a budget. Columbia (headquartered in Portland, OR) has been delivering quality products to the Pacific NW and beyond for 40+ years.

XXL regular - runs a little long
well made … quality shows … runs a little long … perhaps two inches longer than I expected … I will be warm in this. note that this product has a high rise. I normally wear a 40" waist for comfort, I stand 6'0" and a 31 inch length is about right for me. The XXL purchased is a little large for my 40" waist, but the looseness will ensure no restrictions (more flexibility. The XL size might have been too snug for me while boarding. In hindsight, I think that the XXL short size would have been a better fit. These pants have nice sized belt loops, plus little sip-lock tabs on each side to adjust the waist fit. I plan to use a clip on suspenders. They also have a small inner elastic liner at the ankle to help keep snow out. Understand that there are no zippers at the bottom of each leg, so the boots will go on last. it appears a little bulky, but I think the trade-off will be warmth. Besides, I snowboard, so that is sort-of the look. given the discounted price I paid ($48), these pants seem like a very good value

Finally - the solution I needed for sizes!
I've tried everything in Columbia's women's sizing from XL - 2X. It was either too tight, too tight, or HUGE. There was no medium ground. So not only did I find a fun color (they're really bright turquoise), but I got them in a short version! I'm 5'5" with short legs, long torso - so I buy short length in everything... and finding short snow pants is a blessing! But also, I'm wearing a 16-16W in pants, 38-39" waist, and these were a touch loose, but they didn't squeeze my thighs, butt or legs... I can MOVE in these. Squat, stand, sit - no problem. A tad loose in the waist never hurt anyone. I can fit these over a pair of sweats, too - so when I'm done sledding, skiing or tubing, I can take the snowpants off and be decent in public. I'm relieved to have found these and that the sizing works! The color is beautiful, length is reasonable, and the quality is what you would expect from Columbia. I'm looking forward to being outside wearing these more often!

If you are flexible on color, you can save a lot! Not just for guys.
I live in the snowbelt of Ohio and just wanted to get some nice snowpants for my husband and myself for occasional shoveling or outside activities. I am a woman, but could not find any women's snowpants for a decent price. While I was shopping for snowpants for my husband, I noticed that there were great prices on these men's pants depending on the size and color. Some colors and sizes were about 75% cheaper than others. I wound up buying a pair for my husband and got a men's pair for myself. I would have preferred black, but we wound up buying sage (which is a nice neutral) and the bright blue (which shows up well in snowy weather). We are both happy and saved a pile of money. If you are willing to be flexible about colors, you might get a real deal. The pants are comfortable and high quality. They kept me toasty while shoveling snow.

Good solid product
I recently went skiing in Bulgaria and these were great. Lightweight, comfortable and waterproof. Reasonable amount of built in insulation so did get a bit hot a times, as the temperature was >0. Would highly recommend.

Not fit for purpose.
These trousers from Columbia look great fit well and are very comfortable to wear. Sadly though they fail in their main purpose, they simply are NOT rain proof. After wearing them 3 times in moderate wind and rain they started to fail on their fourth outing. Rain started to seep in at the knees after 20 minutes exposure to heavy rain. This wasn’t a daring mountain expedition it was simply a 30 minute stroll to walk the dog, footpaths all the way. If you are under the assumption that Columbia represents good quality outdoor wear you may want to, as I definitely will, think again and find a better brand. Disappointing. Not recommended.

Great for Skiing
Great Ski pants for the price. They are rain resistant, but i don't know how they would fair in heavy rain. The sizes are a a bit misleading. So, if you use a large size, i recommend going for Medium with these pants.
