My wife and I have been searching high and low for this type of swimsuit

My wife used one of these when she was a kid and couldn't stop talking about how great it was for building confidence in the pool. We finally were able to find this version on Amazon, and it's been fantastic. NOTE: This is not US Coast Guard approved, and we will not use this with our child in the ocean. We have a private pool at our home and will only use it there while she is under adult supervision. What is really great about this is the dexterity our daughter is still able to have while also having the buoyancy needed to keep her from sinking completely underwater. Most floatation devices or vests really restrict a child's movement so it adds to their apprehension, and I feel, lengthens the time a child feels comfortable in the water. For sizing, we bought 2 because we just weren't sure what would work (products from China can have weird sizes). As a reference, our daughter is 23 months, roughly 26 pounds, and roughly 36 inches tall, and the SMALL fits really well, so it appears the sizing it correct.

Granddaughter loves it

It was a little too big for my 21 lb. 14 month old granddaughter and she tended to tip over face first while floating. Design seems good and I’m hoping it’ll fit and float better for her next summer.

Great support for little swimmers

Bought a size medium for my 30lbs 2yr old. She loves it! It fits her well, a little large, but not too tight. It did fade a little after a swim or two, but I did leave it out to dry in the 100° sun, still works though. My daughter gained courage wearing it and starting jumping and trying to swim in the pool with it on today! I will note, there should still be someone close at all times. Its nice, but must be used with supervision.

Dangerous!!!!

Why in the WORLD there are so many positive reviews, I cannot fathom. First of all--I may have bought this for the wrong age...I will give you that. But my 14 month old loves to swim and she's very fearless--I thought this would give her buoyancy and keep her head out of the water so that I could let go of her. She jumps into the surf without any "plan" on how to get back up and I have to repeatedly grab her and pull her out. She laughs, thinks it's funny...so I thought--this is the perfect product! She can jump in and it'll float her back out...she'll have a blast, right? The first thing I noticed was that it is very difficult to get a wriggly, squirmy, wet, sandy one year old into this thing. And the suit is not too small. It fit her perfectly once I got it on. Any bigger and the styrofoam pads would have ridden up to cover her face. It seems if you need floaties, it'd be a lot easier to wrap them around a kid or at least have velcro closures somewhere to allow you to slip it on easier. But that minor inconvenience would have been worth it if the thing hadn't been so dangerous. I am so angry. I let her go into the ocean while I stood about a foot away supervising, ready to help her out...and of course she dives in face first...and comes up, alright. She came bobbing to the surface, unable to turn over with her face submerged. Really?!? Really?!?!!!! I had to grab her to keep her from drowning. I thought...ok, we'll give this another shot. I put her right side up, balanced her in the water holding onto her and let go...immediately she tipped face first and again, her face was submerged and this time I let her go for a second to see if maybe she was trying to keep her head under (she's a total water baby, maybe this is a game?)...I noticed that she was struggling to move her head up out of the water and she couldn't do it. I immediately rolled her over onto her back, she got a breath, and I tried to let go and see if she could float on her back...nope. As her arms and legs kicked, it rolled her quickly onto her stomach with her head submerged again. It's like this suit is MADE to drown your child. I joked with my husband later that it does indeed provide buoyancy--you could totally find your dead baby floating face first in the water--it's certainly bright enough. Buy it at your own risk, maybe for an already-swimming, larger kid. Not for babies who can't swim on their own!!!

Safe

My granddaughter was both fearful and reckless in the pool. As a classic 2 year old she refused to wear floaties. She is willing to wear the bright pink swimsuit with the cute bows! She floats like a cork in it. Of course the suit is an extra layer of protection and does not take the place of direct adult supervision.

Great for pool!

I got this for my 3 yr old granddaughter. She LOVES it. It helps her to have confidence while she learns to swim.

Gave my 3-year-old granddaughter confidence she was all over the pool in this thing but you do have to stay around them. She Loved this bathing suit.
