Excellent flatware but why no serving utensils for the style?

Attrition over the years has whittled down our silverware supply. When I saw this set of silverware for four places, in a simple elegant style, I jumped at the chance to pick them up. I haven’t regretted it. My family uses these utensils daily. In the box, you get four place setting with a salad fork, dinner fork, dinner spoon, tea spoon and a dinner knife for each setting. This set does not come with serving utensils. Mikasa is a well known silverware brand and this set lives up to their reputation by being attractive and nicely made. The style is really elegant and goes well with just about any style of plate and even other less ornate silverware. I really like this set. They are nicely weighted and shaped to be comfortable in the hand. The fit and finish is really good and they come with a mirror finish out of the box. So far, despite being abused in the dishwasher, they’ve held up really well against incidental scratches and the like. I don’t see these pieces ever bending or warping with use. They’re heavy and solid. Like another review mentioned, the only real knock against this silverware set is that apparently Mikasa has chosen not to make any serving utensils for the Arturo style. That means no large serving spoons, salad serving forks, etc. It seems like an odd oversight, but looking at their website, it appears that this is fairly common for a lot of their sets. This would be something to keep in mind if looking to purchase these. It’s a guarantee that your serving ware will not match this set. That said, given how the style is simple and not overly intricate other more plain style utensils should match with it just fine. Bottom line: Mikasa makes fine silverware and this set will be serving in my home for many years to come. I do wish that serving utensils were available in the same style. That said, it's not a deal breaker for me. For the price, this set is well worth a look.

Oh so pretty but where are the serving pieces?

Mikasa is a company known for quality dinnerware and this elegant silverware in the Arturo pattern is a good example. The 20-piece flatware set has four five-piece place settings that consist of a dinner fork, salad fork, dinner knife, dinner spoon, and teaspoon. It’s a pretty set and, with the banded border and teardrop handles, it’s a classic design that will look nice with a variety of china and stoneware patterns. Because it’s stainless steel it’s also very durable and suitable for everyday use (and the wear and tear that goes along with it). It’s also quite heavy so it will last a long while and won’t become deformed as time goes on. Finally, the knife is one solid piece, so no danger that the blade and handle will separate over time. In other words, this silverware set is everything I like in flatware. My only complaint is that I haven’t been able to find any serving pieces in the Arturo pattern. This is surprising, given the quality of the Mikasa brand and it knocks my review down to four stars. (If the silverware wasn’t so nice it might even rate 3 stars). I’m so used to the availability of companion pieces that I didn’t confirm the existence of extra pieces in this pattern. This is my only disappointment with this set but I’m hopeful that serving pieces will eventually be available.

Great Quality

I have no doubts these will easily last for many years. They have good weight, no design to scratch off, and because they are stainless steel I have no concerns about using them. I own other Mikasa kitchenware and all of it has been wonderful.
