It takes some time

I was disappointed when I first introduced this toy to my five month old grandson and went ahead to get a more substantial musical instrument. But then he discovered that just like his grandpa - he could hit the drum and make a sweet sound. and - even better - it is a joy to chew on. So although we now (at nine months) have a few other more sophisticated bongos, this was is returned to regularly with delight!

Sturdy and realistic sounds

It is very colorful, and it sounds real, but my 2-year-old Grandson was not interested in playing with it. Will put it up until he is older.

Great toy!

Got it for my 8 month old grandson, he loved it! He was a bit skeptical, a few minutes later he was laughing and smiling at the music noises. Two setting options, one, is just hearing the sounds as he taps it. Two, has music in the background. Has both hands moving. And not annoyingly loud.

Should have just bought real bongos

I was confused by the description, I thought that if you flipped over the bongos it would make a drum noise on one side, and bongo noise on the other. What it does have is just the drum noise and a drum mode with song mode and it’s kind of annoying, Since the songs are low tempo and it just keeps playing and playing even if the kids aren’t banging the drums. You change between the two modes if you flip the switch in the battery pack that stores inside the drum. I like Melissa and Doug products but I don’t think this one was worth the money. I was looking for a real bongo sound effect, should’ve just stuck to my original idea of getting bongos for baby.

Great item for a kiddo

This is a quite fun item to play with for a little one, while having the option to not be a sound-making nuisance. The lucky lad who received this item didn't seem to care if the volume was on or not, just loved hitting it. Fun item!

Not easy to install batteries. For a Melissa and Dave product these did not seem very good.

Good product but one flaw

I generally really like Melissa and Doug products and have bought quite a few. This one is good but the little speaker keeps falling out of mine. -1 star for that. Not a big deal and not worth to return but it’s more of a minor inconvenience

Great toddler toy!

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this for my 11 month old granddaughter. She loved it! Her parents are very cautious about everything she comes in contact with,( first child), and they love it! Win, win. My daughter says to top is pillowy soft and it has a pleasant sound to it. I highly recommend this as a gift for a baby that is old enough to slap something and for its parents.

Excellent bongo drums!

We brought them for our grandsons first birthday - he absolutely loves them! The three options to play are ideal, sound, quality is brilliant - love them!

Great gift for toddlers!

The product is sensitive to movement, so turn the on/off switch off when not in use. The product will continue to play the theme music if on and jostled.
