What the heck have I been doing using those crappy red handled crimpers all my life
What the heck have I been doing using those crappy red handled crimpers all my life! I'm usually a person who splurges on the best tools but for whatever reason I never bought a high quality crimper. I have amazing (and expensive) wire strippers but my crimps are never "great". I always blamed it on the cheap terminals I was buying. I decided to test this thing out on a 22ga wire and it took 54lbs of force of force to break... and that was the wire, not the crimp! I have a luggage scale and a vise if you're wondering how I did that test. At first I was a bit concerned by the size but the ratchet mechanism is pretty cool. It allows you to squeeze it down enough to stick the terminal in and slide in the wire and then finish the crimp. The tool will not release back to open until the crimp is completely finished. This is actually much easier than trying to hold the wire and the terminal and the crimpers with only 2 hands. I almost never throw away tools but those traditional crap crimpers you all have are worthless compared to these. I'm offended by their presence. I'm off to the garage to find every other cheap tool I own now. I'm sure there is an equally impressive alternative for each.

Crimp on a terminal the right way
Heavy Duty, heavy feel in your hand. Quality construction and ease of use. Am rewiring a sailboat and this will see hundreds of repeated uses with various gauge terminals. A point some have made about their inability to adequately "grip the wide spread handles" overlooks the fact that simply ratcheting the jaws down till they meet the terminal, allows you to stage the wire in the terminal and hold the crimping tool till you can finish the crimp. Delivers an excellent crimped terminal WITHOUT damage to the heat shrink or plastic case compromising the connection. I would buy these again as they deliver what I expected, durability, consistency and a quality finished product

Beefy
Great ratcheting leverage for accurate, and repeatable pull test crimps! A little large for some jobs unfortunately but still a nice option most of the time

Quality
Makes excellent terminal crimps. The right tool for narrow single-crimp terminals.

Big and beefy gets the job done.
I agonized over this purchase as there were so many other similar offerings that were much cheaper. But once I had these in my hands I knew they were the boss of all the rest and the correct choice was made. They have has some weight, and they're sizeable, but they fit well in the hands. I chose this over the other cheaper ones with several different interchangeable style crimpers included knowing that these are the only three sizes I would ever use and those other loose crimpers thingys would promptly get lost in my shop if not secured in a tool. Presently I'm rewiring my Lincoln SA 200 pipeline welder and changing everything over to 10 AWG to make it as solid as possible. The results are awesome. I'm very much impressed with this unit and would recommend it to others.

Perfect Crimper for My Needs
I needed to crimp 8 Gauge insulated connectors and I was trying to decide on a crimper that would best serve my purposes. I have a ratcheting double crimper that does a great job and I did not want to buy something that would duplicate what I already have. I did not want to have a bunch of pieces such as different dies. This single crimper is a little pricy but is very high quality. I also purchased some Ancor 8 gauge ring terminals. I received them both today and rewired my lawn tractor positive leads and the new leads look like they were done at the factory, I will get plenty of use out of this crimper. I highly recommend this crimper.

The right tool makes life so much better
This tool is fantastic. I'd been struggling with some electrical tasks on my boat and wasting the (expensive!) connectors on bad crimps. But it was REALLY REALLY hard to come to terms with paying $60 for crimpers... After the third experience with a series of failed connections I bit the bullet, ordered these, and eagerly awaited their arrival. They came, I went, I crimped, I was happy. So happy that I am writing a review of a crimper tool. They have a nice heft, they crimp well, the ratcheting makes it easy to get the crimp placed just right, and I have not had *ANY* issues with it being too hard to make a crimp. My wife totally doesn't get why I'm so delighted.

Connectors want to slip due to narrow jaws
These ratcheting crimper appears well made, but poorly designed. First off, the handles are extremely long. This helps for 2-handed crimping, but that brings us to the other problem. The width of the crimping teeth is quite narrow, and shaped in a way that really makes it impossible for the slick heat shrink connector to not slip out of the teeth while crimping. This also makes it more likely to end up with a break in the tubing. For a tool designed by the same company that makes the connectors, these 2 really don't work well together. I was working with yellow connectors on 12AWG and 10AWG wire, and the connector would always slip out of the jaws toward the terminal end or toward the wire end, resulting in me having to make multiple crimps on the same connector.
