This product deserves 5 stars, but I give it 4 because temperature calibrated too cautiously.

I originally gave this product a very low rating because the water temperature would only come out at about 103F (degrees Fahrenheit). But I emailed tech support and after a few weeks, and a second email for support at: grohecustomercare@lixilamericas.com they gave me instructions on how to re-calibrate the temperature range. I did this successfully and I am now very happy! I will return to this review after 6 months or so and if I am still happy, I will up this review to 5 stars. Here is the full message I received from tech support: You can take the handle off and turn the black/blue knob counterclockwise and that will increase the temperature.

Where has this faucet been all my life

Possibly the best looking piece of chrome goodness I have ever seen, plus it is the most amazingly perfect faucet. Bath time will be more relaxing and if there is an interruption at least it will not be from sudden changes in water temperature or pressure. Smooth operation, intuitive controls, and sleek modern looks give better control over my water than I thought possible. Easier to install than I thought it would be, I used the Grohe 1000 faucet on our remodel project. We updated a brass manifold faucet from 1975, and this is undoubtedly the finest detail of the entire project. Totally worth it in every way.

Don't even think about buying this fixture!!!!

I wanted this fixture to work so badly. I fell in love with similar fixtures on a recent trip to Europe. The coupling design is so bad there is no way to get it installed without leaking. I had three plumbers try and fail to stop the leaks. We tried every color and brand of thread tape. We tried the Grohe supplied thread cord and then purchased Loctite thread cord but it still leaked. The S-Union design is just horribly flawed. The last attempt was thread sealing compound but still more leaks. Anyone who says this unit doesn't leak is just unaware of leaks in the wall cavity. Now I have very expensive shower walls designed to accomodate this fixture which will not stop leaking. Several plumber invoices and many extra parts and supplies and it still leaks. This has become a several thousand dollar mistake. DO NOT make the same mistake. Avoid any Grohe product with a S-Union coupler. The thread design is seriously flawed. I have lost faith in German engineering. Tapered pipe fittings seal well and would be a much better system than this S-Union with straight threads that will not seal no matter what you do.

From easy to awkward

This is our second Grohe constant temperature bath/shower valve. Love the concept! The old one was simple and intuitive: It had a temperature scale, easy to pre-set; the new one does not really have much temperature setting indication. The old one had a simple button to pull to switch from bath to shower, the new one has you rotate through a centre-off position to go between bath & shower. It is difficult to tell, when starting, which one you're dialing up - if you start with cold water in the pipes you just may get a cold pre-soak from the shower. On the positive side, the adjustment handles on the new unit are much easier to adjust with wet, soapy hands. The photo shows the new unit installed, the old unit is sitting on a board below the new one.

Lack of installation instructions led difficulty installing. Works well so far though.

Tap came only very general installation instructions and turned into an installation nightmare. We have pex plumbing, (which allows fittings to turn), so when installing the unit, it is impossible to tighten tap on to the fittings behind the wall without them spinning. In the end my plumber required 6 additional hours to install. After installation was finished, we had to adjust the temperature setpoint in the unit but it seems to work well now. Top tip for installing, get pex to 3/4" adapters with frame mounting holes (photo) and use 3/4" couplings to connect to the tap instead of the 3/4" to 1/2" offset adapter pieces supplied.

Must to have in multi-washroom home

Must to have if you have more than 2 washrooms . No sudden hot/cold water during the shower when somebody flush the toilet or started to take shower in another bathroom or both . You can barely feel the temperature deviation , only the flow change is noticed .
