Bake Element Good, Packaging Bad

The bake element works well, but I'd like to offer a "special" shout out to the logistics genius who used adhesive tape to secure 8 bags of screws to the resistance wire. It was a pain to get the adhesive goo off, required several soakings in lighter fluid. Other than that, fine.

It fit perfect

The old bake element in my oven was broken and stopped working. I ordered this one, and it came in fairly quickly and was easy to install. It has worked fine since installation. There was another model that was cheaper, but I am glad we went with this GE Genuine OEM replacement. There was another model that my friend wanted me to buy at Home Depot that day, but it cost more and I don't believe it was a GE OEM. I was willing to wait on this one to arrive. I'm glad I did. It fit perfect in my GE oven.

Great part but not genuine GE part

My older GE stove, model number JBSO3 SIWH burnt out after using it as a heater last winter. Yes, this was not an intelligent thing to do. But, one doesn't usually expect snow in Texas either. So, I let this stove sit for almost a year because I wasn't sure how I wanted to proceed. I was still able to use the 4 burners to cook eggs, and stove top meals. I just couldn't bake in it. I wasn't exactly sure what had happened or what replacement part I needed until I got out my flashlight and looked deep inside the stove. That's when I saw a 2 inch piece of the heating element broken off. So, I knew that would be the first place to start. This part was difficult to find because my stove is an older GE model from the early 1990s. GE doesn't carry the original exact part number that's stamped on the metal part of the old heating element. I called GE on the phone. The replacement part they said would work was over $50.00 and I wasn't sure if that would be the only part I needed. After much research, I bought this heating element on Amazon based solely on the measurements and style of my original one. Please pay attention to your old terminals before purchasing. Are they straight or curved? Keep this in mind to help you purchase the correct one. It took me about 20 minutes to install. It was fairly simple for this handy woman. Be sure that you tape the old wires with the terminals to the inside of your stove so you don't lose them inside the back insulation of the stove while you are working. I ended up using the old screws since the new ones I received looked slightly different. They may have worked fine but I didn't want to take any chances. However, I liked the fact that it came with the screws and was advertised as a genuine GE heating element. The price point was amazing! But, keep in mind that if it were a genuine GE part you would be paying a lot more for it and it would be stamped. Also, it didn't come well packaged. I pulled it right out of the plain cardboard box without any protective wrap on it! And this is a fairly fragile item. You could step on it too hard and it could bend or break. The one I received was slightly bent and I had to use my pliers to straighten out one of the terminals. I believe the company should spent a little more time and money on packaging this item correctly. Also, please correct the item description to reflect that this part fits certain GE stove but is not a genuine GE part. On a positive note, I would purchase this part again. Fits Older Hotpoint stove

Easy to remove and install. I just watched a review showing how to install it. It works fine, so far.

Wrong (main) picture. (Here's some specs as well).

Did a search for part number AP2030996 and was taken to a page showing four items including this one. As three of the pictures looked correct I was left with a choice of this, the WB44X5099, and two versions of the WB44T10010. As this item was $15 and the others were $25 and $28, I chose this one. Wrong choice. Upon receiving this item and finding it to be the incorrect I reviewed the postings and found the following; The picture for this item on the search page and the first, (of three pictures), on the item page are incorrect (and are instead the WB44T10010). I am returning this item and have already ordered the other. I offer the following information in hopes it helps others in avoiding my mistake. 1) The main heating element loops look almost exactly the same. 2) The major noticeable difference between the two items is that the WB44T10010 has prongs that extend 3 inches behind the plate and bend up halfway back at a 45 degree angle. The WB44X5099 has prongs that extend 1 1/2 inches straight back. 3) Connectors; WB44T10010 has flat "slide-on" plates. WB44x5099 plates have threaded holes for screws. 4) Mounting holes; WB44T10010 has two round holes with centers 2 3/4 inches apart. WB44X5099 has slanted holes with centers 3 1/2 inches apart. 5) Where the element enters the plate; WB44T10010 elements are 2 3/4 inches apart (immediately below the mounting holes). WB44X5099 elements are 1 1/4 inches apart. Final notes; I only gave this item three stars as it wasn't an item I can use and it was misrepresented in photos. The product, for all I know, may work fine for you. Hopefully Amazon will fix this problem. It arrived two days after an evening order which was impressive. Hope this info helped.

Worked like a charm. Wish was cheaper but was older model.

Went in and heated right up. Wish it was a bit cheaper but oven was older model. Can't complain as son and daughter-in-law bought new house and really needed to be able to cook in it.

came with proper fitting screws to attach the wires which was nice, so you don't have to worry about stripping ...

first off its not made by GE. all GE elements I have had over years were clearly stamped GE. BUT it is exactly the same size and shape and has worked well for about a year now, and the cross reference to the GE part is accurate, thankfully. this one has shorter terminals (which protrude out the back where you screw on the wires), while many have longer ones, so if you need the shorter terminals, this is the one to buy. the short terminal ones I have found are harder to find. not sure you can even get a GE model, anyway (my oven is from 1973), if you wanted it, I called some local supply outlets and they couldn't tell me over the phone if theirs were stamped GE. so my point may be moot, the original may not be made anymore. came with proper fitting screws to attach the wires which was nice, so you don't have to worry about stripping it by using screws of the wrong thread count. while you are in there, if yours is as old as mine, consider getting heat shrink insulation at the hardware store to cover the insulation on the wiring as I found my insulation was starting to crack

Great- exactly what I wanted !

This part order worked out great for me as I needed an element for a quite old oven. Part was exactly as described, it fit perfectly, quality was v. good, item priced reasonably and shipped/arrived very very promptly.

Perfect Fit....Super Easy to Install

We have an old Hotpoint stove and this bake element fit the oven perfectly. Comes with a set of stainless screws to secure wires in place. The back bracket is hinged not like the old element which makes lifting the element easier to clean underneath. Great product ....fast shipping. Couldn't be happier.

Had trouble installing because my husband doesn't do well with tiny screws lol, but the element works great in our GE stove. Heats quickly and evenly. I'm so glad we handled this repair alone and saved so much money!
