Still perfect after years

Easy to install
Our home came with this towel hook already installed (the right one), though we wanted another one right by the shower door since there are 2 of us. I used the Amazon app scan feature to find a match for the already-existing one and it pulled up the correct product! Installation was super easy and now it looks like both have been there this whole time.

Great look and quality. Ridiculous drywall anchors enclosed.
The hook looks very nice and feels heavy for its size. It looks and feels high quality. A bath towel stays on the hook without slipping. Installation was easy. Turning a set screw with a small Allen wrench against a flat surface is a pain in the rear, particularly because quite a few turns are required, but the final look is clean and modern. The enclosed plastic drywall anchors are ridiculous. You are supposed to fold them, push through the wall, and then use the enclosed red pin to make them expand behind the wall. The way these anchors look, they will probably work best on a 3/8" drywall, with a 1/2" drywall they will not fully expand. I have installed this hook on the bathroom door, but if I were to install it on a wall, I'd use standard drywall anchors, not the enclosed ones.

It's easy to get hooked on these.
These are handsome, well engineered hooks. The chrome finish is flawless and heavy-duty. Once the inner bracket is properly installed, the hook (as shown) sits tight and flat against the wall. I installed one and immediately ordered another. After months of daily use, holding heavy weight terry bathrobes or damp towels, they remain securely in place. I suspect the same holds true for this complete line of Gatco products. Instructions for installation are simple and straightforward. Installation took some time, because I installed these into walls of plaster and lathe with appropriate anchors (bought separately) and plumber's epoxy. Most users, however, will probably install them into plaster board, and the sturdy anchors that are supplied with the hooks will simplify installation and securely hold the mounting bracket. The screws (supplied) for attaching the mounting bracket are long enough to go through plaster board and into studs, which would eliminate the need for anchors altogether.

Looks nice but was not designed well
Looks very nice but requires a very small allen wrench to attach the bar to the wall plate. The size and the fact that it needs to be used next to the wall makes this tool very ineffective and difficult to use. This step takes quite a bit of time and patience. It also crossed my mind that one would need to keep this tool on hand in case of loosening or if they ever wanted to remove the fixture. The screw should have been fitted for a standard screwdriver not an allen wrench.

Nice fit and finish, but has to be flush mounted
Mounted these on the back of my bathroom door -- the fit and finish is nice and its a good looking product. The only issue is the way the mounting bracket works it has to be flush with the wall, so if you are using any kind of wall anchor (which you should be) the hook will not sit completely flush with the wall. Mine sit off about a 1/16" of an inch -- not a huge issue but a design flaw for sure. They could have added some additional depth and modified the way the tension screw works to accomplish a flush finish even when using wall anchors that sit on the wall.
