A quality replacement part for my GE range
It's exactly what I needed to replace a faulty switch for the big burner on my '80s model GE electric range. Installation was quick and simple enough to perform with a little help from YouTube. I actually spent more time trying to figure out how to remove the old part, but when I did, it was pretty much plug-and-play. However, I did need to trim the shaft down to the proper length. I installed the part in 2019, and it's still going strong.

Easy and Effective
I installed this about 4 months ago and it still works perfectly. The switch is louder than the OEM part I replaced and is very audible when the burner clicks on/off when set at a mid-range temperature. The instructions were simple and made some assumptions that you use a bit of deductive reasoning. Simply put, if you're replacing an old unit, pay attention to how you take it off because there are multiple ways this could be installed - the wiring options vary. The metal prong that the knob gets pushed onto can be trimmed to length and seems to be sturdy enough to last a long time, just make sure to cut it correctly (a little longer than you expect to need) so that you don't end up cutting it too short. Remember, the knob is a 'push and turn' knob so it requires an extra 1/8-1/4" of extra room. The knob is a little more stiff to push than the OEM, but doesn't affect functionality. There are also extra sleeves to fit inside the knob, providing a snug and adjusted fit which nicely makes this an actual 'universal' replacement part. 4 stars for being easy to install and functioning properly, but not higher because fo lame instructions and it doesn't operate as smoothly as the OEM part I replaced.

Works well!
I bought this for a Kenmore 7909611340. I have had issues with the left-front burner. Occasionally the burner would not shutoff when the dial was tuurned off and one time, came on by itself! It also had issues at low settings and would only really heat up at high settings. Finally, while cooking, I heard a small pop and smoke from the back of the range. At this point, I knew the switch was done. I went to Sears Parts online to find the part and the nearest store. I found the part number (which happened to replace the OEM part) but the nearest store was closed. I decided to give Amazon a try. With Prime I got it sooner than I would have if I had waited for the next opportunity to drive 20 miles to the nearest Sears Parts store. The part was relatively easy to install. One thing the instruction tells you do when breaking off the stem to fit your dial is to use pairs of pliers to break the stem and not use the body of the switch. It is noisier then the original switch when it activates but I'm just glad it works. Will see how long it lasts.. but so far I'm happy with the results.

After completion of the job, it worked. It was difficult to determine the location to break off the shaft. it was even more difficult to cut one of the plastic parts to a correct length to work. I saw this mentioned in other reviews. I would have bot oem if I could have found it. I couldn't so settled for this. By the time I cut the plastic part to fit (shorter), it barely had enough length to work. I still ended up putting a spacer between the switch and the back side of the range to make it look good. (otherwise knob was sticking out from range wall too far.) The location of the terminals on the switch were somewhat different from the oem switch. However, they were labeled and the wires fit the terminals; the wires were long enough to be relocated so this was not an issue. For others it would be nice to note this and include this info with switch.

Burner runs hotter than with the original 1986 switch
Purchased an identical switch from another company, at twice the price. Installed properly per the instructions. Turned the switch to Low. The burner heated up to full speed ahead. Little bit of smoke from the new switch. Shut it off, disconnected power, and found the switch to be hot. Not normal. Contacted the company, and received a refund for a defective switch. Purchased this switch. Installed the same way. Works fine, but the burner definitely runs warmer than the original switch did. At least this time, no smoke or overheating lol...

Not oem
This is a one size fits all switch. You have to snap off the shaft length to fit your length, use correct plastic insert into dial to fit square shaft, dial spins 360°, unlike original. Wiring labels were the same but we're is much different locations than origional. If you can get exact replacement part, do it, this isn't what I expected- don't know how long it will last as I just installed.

Was disappointed that I had to modify this to work and the knob stands out farther than the others, but all in all, I'm pretty satisfied. It cost a lot less on Amazon than at a Sears parts store.

Get's the job done
Have an old custom range that is really hard to get parts for. The shaft on this item is not as robust as the original equipment, but once the cap is on you cannot really tell and operation is fine.
