My go to reading glasses

I absolutely love the progressive lenses in these glasses. The varying amount of magnification makes these quite functional when moving between tasks at different distances. For instances, I can go from up close work on my desk such as reading a page to more distant work on a computer monitor without making any adjustments. With standard glasses I might be moving my head back and forth, dropping the glasses down my nose so I can look over them, etc. With these on I just look up and everything is clear. They generally improve my vision over a variety of distances and are so comfortable to wear that I frequently forget I have them on. More than once I have gotten into my car and driven a distance before realizing I still had these on. The frame on my first pair did break for no apparent reason. I did see several reviews mentioning durability issues so take that into consideration. Bottom line is that I much prefer these over standard, fixed magnification glasses. I have several pairs now just so I have them handy whenever I need them.

Perfect Glasses for Playing Cards

These are exactly what I was looking for & am so happy I found them. I play mah jongg and was having a hard time looking down @ my card & rack of tiles & then looking across the table where the discarded tiles are. I found I needed one power for up close and another power for looking slightly further away. These glasses have 3 levels of sight: 1 magnification power on the bottom, the middle is a slightly weaker power and the top is clear. Perfect for me! Even if you don't play MJ, these glasses would be gr8 for playing any card game (bridge, rummy, etc.) plus they look nice and are pretty sturdy. Very pleased.

FINALLY!! JACKPOT!!

I tried 3 or 4 other brands/sellers of multifocal readers with really poor and disappointing results. There were a range of variable problems but the majority fell into the inaccuracy of the lens strength selected to the REALLY bad or almost nonexistant placement of the 3rd/reading level. These FOSTER GRANTS are as CLOSE TO PERFECT as I think I can get for multifocal readers 'over-the-counter'. There placement of the progression from distance to computer to handheld reading is excellent as are two of the three strengths (I read the reviews so knew going in that they were a bit stronger than most were used to at the same magnification so I ordered down a bit) The only issue that brought these FG's down from 5 to 4 stars was the distanice or top portion which I believe is really a good deal stronger than even I'd anticipated despite having been forewarned by other reviews....BUT...deslite that one blemish all the others were returned...THESE ARE STAYING RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE AS I WRITE!! :-) Thanks FG and Amazon!

Multiple issues with these glasses

I had a previous pair of Foster Grant Multifocus reading glasses that I loved. These, I don't. Quality: More like a quality that you might expect from a sub $20 pair of glasses. Certainly not worth a price north of $30. Inserted lens were uneven, hinge mechanism felt cheap, etc. That being said, quality is not a major factor in this review because it is difficult to judge without using them daily for a year or two, something that I have no intention of doing. Comfort: Fairly comfortable. Fit well. But not a 5 star fit. Frame style: Tortoise-shell appearance is pleasant enough. Frame shape: BEWARE: Please note that these glasses are NOT RECTANGULAR reading glasses as described in the heading/title. An accurate description would be "round" or "square". In fairness, this is how Foster Grant classifies the frame (why, baffles me). Purchasers will be very disappointed if expecting anything close to a rectangular/oval frame.

Great optics....poor construction

Ever since my cataract surgery, I have been flipping my "readers" off and on at work. These progressive readers looked interesting. I ordered the strength I needed for reading....the strength reduces as you look higher in the lens. Very nice for reading the phone screen, then a computer and then distance. Problem.....the hinge that connects the bow to the frame is way too delicate. Had mine for 2 months and the hinge snapped. I have worn glasses since I was 5 yrs old. Never had frames that were so poorly constructed. I did buy another pair to hold me over until I can find a manufacturer with a more robust product

great value vs. custom lenses

These work perfectly for me as far as vision is concerned. I spent hundreds getting a prescription and then ordering custom made glasses online from a popular and trendy brand; they never quite worked. Bad fishbowl effect. They revised them 3 times, and eventually gave me my money back. These FG glasses, although not custom, work perfectly for me both for reading and distance for driving (and I need both now). So, so happy to not pay much for these compared with custom lenses; a great value. The style is great. A little loose on my head, but fine and I can probably adjust a little. They are cheap enough that I now have two pairs. Well worth it.

No nose bridge. Fragile Frames. Returning.

I’ve the several Conan Tortoise model for several years. Vision part is great, but The frames break after 8 months or so. I thought I’d try this model to see about better frames. No, they are the same, and will soon break. Worse, they have no nose bridge, so they shift around. $30 bucks as well. Sadly, I will reurn these and this will be my last Foster Grant glasses.
