Took a chance on this and I'm glad I did!
My shower faucets and head had been leaking continuously and I decided to fix it myself. I'm pretty handy and a good bike wrench so I watched a some YouTube videos and after buying some stem socket "cowbells" I was finally able to extract my badly stuck sleeves and faucet stems with vice locks, a bit of vinegar, penetrating oil, patience, and elbow grease. And I didn't break anything! I saw that one of the faucet stems was badly bent (one of the prior tenants had probably stood on it to change a light bulb more than 30 years ago). The packing was screwed up from this and it sprayed a little water from around the stem when I tapped it when the water was on at certain positions. So instead of just a pair of 5/8 x 1/8 washers I needed a new stem. My local hardware store plumbing dude was a real jerk and basically blew me off when I came in with the stem (see photo), saying "we don't have that stem," and offered no further advice. I asked him where I could get one and he told me to go to a plumbing supply place. Just what I need, I thought: more obnoxious dudes catering to the trade who will take pleasure in ripping me off as a "non-guild member". I checked the Yelp reviews for the dodgy storefront place he pointed me to and it turned out my suspicions were spot on. I did more research online and determined from the spline count and appearance the stem was a pre-war (1945) style Gerber. My building is really old (1910) and my plumbing is at least 40 years old and probably more. I googled and found his replacement kit and guessed it was probably a functional match (especially with all the positive reviews) and it looked like a great deal. The only significant difference seemed to be (1) the length of the stem extending from the threads was a little shorter in the full open position and 2) the bonnet threads themselves extend a little farther into the plumbing fixture. I figured the threads wouldn't be an issue. My worry was leak issues with possibly "overextending" the stem slightly in the full off position. Also my faucet escutcheon plates were not round, but an oblong shape that screwed into a loose plate that went around the stem sleeve and was held in place with a hex nut that encircled a water cutoff switch. Best to keep the oblong ones instead of retiling. It turned out none of these issues made any difference in functionality for the new faucet stems after installation. The sleeves fit the oblong escutcheon plate perfectly. The packing nuts were shipped loose and needed to be tightened down (but not crazy tight) to prevent leakage from around the stem, but then everything worked fine with no leaks. The handles are very easy to turn. Both washers make a slight short squeak at full off position but I actually kind of like the sound and feel (it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen sink). I didn't bother replacing any seats because mine were smooth to the touch and don't eat up washers. The old seats (or maybe the new washers) might be causing the squeak. But It's nice to have backups. I didn't install the shower diverter stem (the original was stuck much worse than the faucet stems--which were themselves a real bear to loosen) and I was afraid I could break loose some of the old (probably cheap) plumbing behind the wall. The original shower diverter still works great. If it ain't broke… I'm just going to swap in the shiny new knob. And again, it’s always nice to have a backup. I'm very pleased with this fix/refurbish and highly recommend it. Fixing an annoying shower leak is very satisfying, but so is bypassing jerk plumbing dudes, saving hundreds of dollars, and adding useful tools to your collection.

Buy the New instead of Used
So I thought I would get a used kit to save a little money but it ended up wasting my time and the plumbers. The used version was not only not the correct parts but it seemed like the previous buyers had taken the washers and one stem out and just replaced them with other parts. I basically had to reschedule with the plumber and buy a new set. The set is fine but if you are going to buy anything where you need the right parts than just go with the new and unopened one.

It worked!
I took a chance and picked this after many many visits to home improvement stores with no luck. First of all I think the design was old, maybe 40 years or more, so I didn't think I would ever find a match and would have to hire a plumber to rip out all the brass pipe and install never fittings (I tried to change the washers many time to no luck). Luckily, I found this on Amazon and took a chance because it looked the same but I had no idea what the dimensions work. I was able to install them and some of them were a little short, but it still worked. I am completely ecstatic and elated that everything worked out and the leak is finally resolved. Thank you for this product and to the seller!

It fit perfectly
I didn’t know which kit to order so I compared the available ones to my old set and hoped they fit. To my pleasure everything went quite well. The only hiccup was I couldn’t get the seat out for the shower stem. However, it appeared not to be damage and all worked well.

Leaking after install, easy fix.
After I went though all the work to replace the valve stems, they were still leaking. It was coming from the stuffing screw area. I used an adjustable wrench and a few turns on the outer most hex and everything was fine. This was both the hot and the cold side. I was very concerned to see a steady spray of water coming out of the knobs after the install. Thankfully it was an easy fix.

The media could not be loaded. Our faucets were leaking so finding this replacement was great. Ordered, changed them out then a couple and months later noticed leaking again. Took it apart to figure out what's happening and noticed the nut broke and had practically turned into a spring... Not very happy. This should've lasted a heck of a lot longer than a couple months... Now I gotta get a deep socket to try and get this stupid thing out so I can switch it again. Will not be buying this again.

Worked great for my old shower setup-get a valve seat wrench if you are replacing them
I wasn't sure I had Gerber stems and seats but it looked the same figured I'd try. The set was packed all right but I was missing one screw, a phillips for the handle. Not a big deal just wanted new hardware. The kit comes with a valve wrench which wasn't needed but is nice. It doesn't come with a valve seat tool which was needed until I figured out where it was in my basement. If you are buying this for replacing your seats, leaking or drips and you replaced the washer a million times buy one you'll need to replace the seat. I only used the seat and the bezel for one faucet this time. The stems are pretty closely a clone of the current ones and far cheaper than a plumbing supply house selling the same chinese knock off Gerber ones. Real ones run about 25 to 35 each. Leaks stopped and I have as a bonus three new valve stems with two seats. The new knobs are shorter which look nicer to me. You will have to replace them all if you have an older setup because they do not match at all. It'd buy this again. I wish the kit had my missing screw but really it should have a valve seat wrench if they are going to include the valve wrench, charge 2 buck more really it's just metal.

Fit perfect for an old house and it's old plumbing.
Worked perfectly to fit an old 1960's tub set! Will be ordering a second one for the other tub in case.
