5 years later, still going strong!

I am so hard on watches and this watch has made it through it all. I LOVE my Skagen and probably will never buy another brand of watch. My particular one is fairly water resistant, I've splashed water in and near it, and even put my hand into the turtle tank once when I had to get the turtle out when the lightbulb got wet, exploding sharp glass all over. I didn't have a moment to take off the watch, so in it went. It came out fine. I do not usually immerse this watch although I don't take it off to wash my hands or scrub dishes before they go into the dishwasher. I wouldn't immerse it often though. In 5 years of ownership, I wore this watch almost every day for the first 4. Then I bought 2 more Skagen watches to expand my "wardrobe." That should tell you something right there. Here's my analysis: Pros: *Many Skagens have this mesh bracelet. It is WONDERFUL and I can't say enough about it. Hypoallergenic, breathable like no other band. I'm allergic to everything, my skin is so acidic it will literally eat the chrome finish off of things. Not so with this watch, since it's surgical stainless steel. *In 4 years, I have had to replace the battery once. Great battery life. *Attractive, gets comments. *Flashy flat glass gets attention and if you can't read, just tilt to angle and it works great. *Love the sparkly little crystals. *Matching brushed silver face. *Easily adjustable band. Takes a small screwdriver to pry up the clamping clasp. Easy. *Good locking safety clasp. If the catch gets loose, just give it a little pressure from pliers and it becomes tight again. *Super low profile. Sits close to your wrist which helps out on the first "con" Cons: *All Skagens have low-quality glass. It does chip, scratch, etc. I'm very hard on watches so it's definitely taken some abuse. It still looks good though-- that was the only thing that made it lose a star. I wish Skagen had a more expensive line with real sapphire crystals, I'd be willing to pay more. They are WORTH IT. *No second-hand.

JUST RECEIVED THE WATCH, LOVED IT!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

I just received my Skagen watch..I love it! I hesitated to buy it, but having read tons of reviews and considering the discounted price; I thought it is worth to try. It looks very stylish..Ideal size for a middle-aged woman. (I am 36) . I can wear this watch at any occasion. Very elegant..It is not too showy, either..It is a great buy for this price but regardless of the price, I love the watch itself. I think it looks like a $300-$400 watch. I know a couple, they both own Skagen watches and they highly recommended me to get one. They told me they`ve had it for years and experienced no problems at all. I am sure I will have no problems either, but if I do, I will update this review. I think the adjustable strap is a great advantage, my wrist is a little skinny. After adjustment, it fits my wrist perfect. I like the steel background and the mirror strip on the side. This mirror strip makes the watch look shiny. The metal strap is also very unique and elegant. I was undecided between getting a Swatch metal knit watch and this Skagen watch. When comparing these two, I think it was a better choice to get Skagen for a professional woman around my age. I still consider getting a Swatch later on, but another model for very casual occasions (just because I always wanted to have a Swatch :)) . This Skagen is suitable for any occasion. Overall I am very happy with this purchase, and consider getting one more as a gift for a close friend of mine. If you are considering to get one, get it..You will not be disappointed. In my opinion, even if I have any issues after a year of daily use, I would not make it a big issue considering the price I paid for it..

Not Quite the Quality of a Swiss Watch but Looks Good!

I came, I saw, I conquered. I read the reviews and pros/cons of this watch. And it is just a watch: no light, no alarm, no calendar. When it comes right down to it, I really like this watch. I am aware that it is not waterproof and I take care to shield it when I wash my hands or when I'm in inclement weather. At first it seemed to stop and lose time but I haven't had that happen in a while. The clasp is tricky but if you stop to think about the logic of why it works the way it does, it makes sense. I love the low profile and slenderness of the watch, this one has a face that is just larger than the other Skagen I was considering, I'm glad I got this one. The silver mesh and sparkly crystals look awesome on my Maui-tanned wrist. The tan will soon fade but I am confident it will continue to look good. I first saw this watch in Dillard's but when I shopped around I found it for about half the price on Amazon. I figure I can put $50 into it (battery or whatever) and still come out ahead. It just looks so darn good. I take care to wipe off the face of fingerprints and smudges daily, just to keep it nice. I wear it as jewelry as well as a watch, yes, it looks that good. I am no longer hard on my watches, I consider them decorative as well as functional, we have a good understanding. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Fabulous watch

In the past I've bought cheaper watches, but lately I've had reactions to the nickel, unfortunately I just have very sensitive skin. I decided to purchase a Skagen stainless steel watch as the brand has great word of mouth, plus I like the idea of the mesh band, which is smooth. I have been wearing the watch for about a week now, and I absolutely love it. It's very lightweight compared to the other watches I've worn, I often forget that I'm wearing it. It's not overly flashy but looks expensive at the same time. I have not had any type of reaction to the band either. I have small wrists as well and my husband has been able to adjust the band with zero difficulty (just need a small, sharp tool). The circle on the dial of the watch appears to be a darker color in the pictures, but it's not, it only looks like it depending on the light of the environment. All in all, I'm very happy and already looking at other Skagen watches to add to my collection.

Purchased as a gift, lovely Skagen Watch

Item arrived promptly and well packaged. Purchased as a gift this petite minimalist watch looks fantastic. Super slim watch with a readable face for a small time piece. The band once adjusted (carefully done with a small flat blade screw driver to release the band lock looks great on the wrist. Very happy with the purchase. Accuracy is yet to be determined over time (pun intended) but this so far is a very well received gift.

A Well Liked Watch

I thought a smart and trendy watch would be just the thing for the good lady's birthday and noticed that the Skagen brand, which I hadn't previously heard of. regularly cropped up when browsing online. Taking a look in some watch stores and jewellers it's presence there too allied to some great reviews suggested their watches were worth a closer look. There are dozens of different Skagen watches out there from current and past seasons collections so choosing one was difficult. In the end I settled upon this one given a combination of the price, the reviews, the look of the watch and being silver and relatively neutral meant it would go with many an outfit. The packaging when it arrived caused me concern I must admit. The white sleeve in which the box was covered was slightly grubby, there were marks where tape had previously been and it had obviously been opened in the past. I wondered if I was being sold a return, and if so why had it been returned? Perhaps it had simply been opened for QC purposes, I don't know, but seeds of doubt were sewn. As for the actual watch itself. Lovely! Has a classy, trendy look and happily the good lady took to it instantly. It has kept time perfectly and has been complimented on a couple of occasions the missus has worn it. Securing the fastener at the optimum point on the strap as has been mentioned is quite a task and without the instructions very kindly listed by another reviewer I fear the wife and I might have given up. But all things considered, it's been a good buy and a well liked gift.

My wife loves this design

The Skagen ladies watch I ordered for my wife is a direct replacement for one she has already that she is very happy with. It arrived in good time ad was very carefully packed. Just a note on the conditions of the guarantee.... Skagen requires the owner to have the battery replaced by themselves to keep the watch inside its guarantee. Also these watches have a glass bevel that can easily be broken if a battery swap is carried out by inexperienced people after the guarantee has expired. I have only marked down the "easy to read" section due to it being an analog dial and younger people may not be used to this design.

Good Design

After the battery died in her last watch my wife decided to bin it and try something a bit different. We had both looked at Skagen watches before and liked their designs and after studying the range for some time, she picked this one. It's for everyday use but has a subtle bit of bling to set it apart. The dark ring you can see in the picture is just light reflection and it changes as it moves. Adjusting the strap is a simple operation that takes only seconds and the very small steps allow for exact adjustment. Watch and strap look very thin and elegant when worn, and the clasp is secure. This particular model is not very water resistant but this was less important than the design and the five year battery life in my wifes case. It keeps good time and she loves it. Recommended.

Simple Scandi Style

Love my Skagen watch , the stainless steel band looks very stylish and the watch face with diamante stones in place of numbers make it look quite expensive . Not too over-sized so can wear to the office and for a special occasion. Strap is very comfortable and once you have adjusted it to fit you forget you have the watch on. Simple and elegant with lots of scandi style.
