Channellock 447 Curved Jaw Diagonal Cutters
Channellock makes some of the highest quality products on the market. I used to sell Channellock products and the 447 curved jaw diagonal cutters were among the most popular.

Ultimate Resi Staple Puller
Pulls residential staples out like nothing else. Doesn't cut worth a crap. That's only reason not 5 stars. I love this tool.

A Cut Above
I do a lot of wiring and good side cutters are indispensable. These are good ones. I use them to cut a lot of copper electrical wire and they give a clean cut with ease. As big as they are, the head is small enough to fit into tight quarters. The long handles give you leverage to cut thick wire and the jaws are strong enough to handle whatever you stick into them. Handy and useful on the job and made to last years.

Beast of a set of pliers
Just got these since some parasite stole my old Stanley dykes. The Stanleys were 7-1/2" so they were a little smaller, but still good pliers. As good as the Stanleys were, these 9-1/2" brutes are a step above. I just took apart some riveted together steel rods and sheetmetal. At first I was going to drill out the 1/4 inch rivets...and then I remembered my new dykes...let me give those a try! These things tore the top off the rivets like they were butter and they bent the sheet metal out of the way with ease. The angled jaw really helps you get leverage on stuff. Oh and these pliers cut through wire with no hesitation. Nail heads...gone. I cut a bunch of stuff to see how they would perform...anything thin was no problem, the thicker things get, the more effort you have to put into it but if your hands are strong enough, it'll cut it. I tried some spring wire...about .075, no problem. I don't think it's a good idea to cut thicker spring steel, but their catalog says you can cut hard wire between .047 and .091. Anyway, after my testing and abuse, they still cut paper perfectly and the jaws show no sign of nicks etc. Even the tiniest of stranded wire and twine left no stragglers...just a crisp cut! These may not be the most elegant pliers, but these bad boys are tough and fairly priced...and I like to see those words...Made in USA.

Machining not what it used to be
I've owned two of this item previously. Loved them. My first pair was lifted by a workman about 10 years ago, and I immediately replaced them with an identical pair. Surprisingly, I use these Channelloch 447 cutters for so many different, daily jobs here on my Virginia farm that I wear them in a belt pouch whenever I'm working. Mine are still going strong 10 years later. I also have a pair of the more typical, NON-CURVED Channellock diagonal cutting pliers. Their quality is excellent, but that pair resides in my electrical toolbox and is rarely used. I just don't find them as practical for my everyday work. My daughter is leaving for college and a shared apartment and I'm putting together a basic tool box for her as a housewarming gift. A set of 447's was the first item I ordered for her tool collection. I was surprised to discover that Channellock is still making these in the US, and that the price seemed very reasonable given the vast usefulness of the tool. However, when they arrived, I was a bit disappointed to see that the machining is not nearly as excellent as my decade-old set. The new ones are otherwise identical to my own trusty pliers, and they seem to function just fine. But they show a number a small machining flaws and (literal) rough edges. It made me a little sad. I won't go to the trouble exchanging them for another set, because my assumption is that this is the new quality standard to which Channellock is building. (It’s occurred to me that the pair I received might be a factory-second, though I have no practical way of knowing.) My expectation is that these will function as well, and last as long as my original set. They're just not the thing of beauty I expected. As such, I believe I'll pass along my old, flawlessly-machined and finished set to my girl and see how the newer set holds up going forward. I want her to learn to appreciate the beauty and usefulness of a nearly perfect tool. The newer iteration is still a reasonably good value proposition. However, I think if I needed an additional pair (another housewarming gift?) I’d probably buy Klein's US-made version instead.

The best
I have found this brand of pliers to be the most sturdy, reliable pliers on the market. They will last a lifetime and you will want to buy many more from their selection.

JUNK!
These are absolute junk! Very dull! I have worn out ones that I bought these to replace, but have to use the old ones. Channellock has always had great products, but there is always an exception, I guess.
