Beautiful train, added lead weights

Beautiful train, but very long passenger cars would cause a harmonic whiplash that would derail each car starting with the last one, maybe this is typical. I added lead weights inside the cars to compensate and now they travel fine.

Cars are not lit inside

The media could not be loaded. Overall a nice train. I must note that the 4 star rating is because I think it would have been nicer if the passenger cars lit up inside. You should also know that the wheelbase of these passenger cars is longer than most so navigating turns must be taken into consideration. Another concern is that, IMHO, the cars could have weight a tiny bit more to make them more stable on the tracks.

Lousy tracks

I recently purchased several train sets, both Bachmann and Kato brands. I first set up the Kato tracks. Easily snap together, rails instantly align. I tested several trains on those tracks and all ran smoothly. Then I assembled the Bachmann tracks. Very tedious lining the rails into their clips. I tried four locomotives on these tracks and could not make one trip around the oval. An engine would stop and so I meticulously inspected the tracks and tried again. Same results. And one other thing: Kato has it's rerailer on a straight section of track; Bachmann on a curved section. What sense does it make to put an item meant for straightening wheels on the rails on a curve? The trains in the set are great. Good detain and colors. But I recommend that you ditch their tracks and go for Kato brand.

A Fantastic Real Train!

The media could not be loaded. Love this train! I wanted a small train that would travel through my Christmas Village. This one is perfect! Easy to set up and run. Yes, you have to be careful with the connections. This is a real train, not a toy train for kids. If your train is derailing, check the connection! Check for uneven surfaces due to joining track improperly. This will run like a champ if you treat it with care. I bought a pack of extra straight track for about $12 to create a longer oval. The second passenger car doesn’t like the tunnels so I leave it off. For the price, this little train does exactly what I want it to.

great set!!!

the train was great and the cars stay on the tracks. I did have one problem the cord to the tracks is a little bit hard to push in and when you get it in the contacted is no good but after a little bit of pushing I got it to work.

2x History of Defective Engines!! Done with this brand!!

Bought as a gift for my husband who is just getting back into his model trains again after a 10yr hiatus. Looked nice, went on the track easy enough, but the engine was dead as a door nail!! This is the 2nd time we’ve received dead engines in the past 2 months, so back it goes!!! Bachman needs to step up their quality control department!! Yes, Bachman has a multi step trouble shoot procedure, but why? When you spend over $100 for these teeny tiny trains, you should be able to take them from the box, put them on the track & boom, they work!! Making sure they work & trouble shooting should be on the manufacturing side before shipping them out!!!! But obviously they don’t care!! My husband has old trains over 30 & 40 yrs old that still zip around the track!!! These were a big disappointment! From here on in I will purchase the Kato brand!! Which is what he had mentioned earlier, but I liked this pretty passenger train & since all his trains are freighters I thought this would be a nice addition! I was wrong! Very disappointed, especially since this was the 2nd gift of Bachman trains that came defective in the past 2 months!!! Never again!!! You lost this wife as a gift giving customer!!!

Mistakenly purchased for my wife.

I bought this Bachmann N scale McKinley explorer set because my wife said she wanted me to run a train on her. That aside this is a great train set that has given me a new hobby to delve into while l go through my divorce. 10/10

The cars are amazing, the level of detail is incredible, and the locomotive runs smoothly!

The media could not be loaded. Love the detail level, even the couplers are very detailed. The cars are very close to each other, just like in real life! The good: incredibly detailed, locomotive runs smooth, it has light, a full, ready to run kit. The bad: some tracks aren't perfectly even, and yes, I made sure to have the connectors in between each other perfectly aligned. I wish the cars had light as well, especially since their interior is complete. Also I wish it included little extras like either a small train station or a few signs. Side thought: the straight section of the track barely has enough of length to have 2 cars straight at a time, and the curves are a little tight for such long cars. It isn't a con since it does work properly, it just doesn't look as good

Not New ! Only buy from manufacturer !

Unfortunately, contrary to the advertisement, the set I received is not new. One of the track pieces was damaged at the ends so it will not connect properly to the other tracks. Other track pieces are bent and don't lay flat. There is noticeable wear on the wheels (it has obviously been run before) and finally, the box it came in was visibly used, the interior packaging was all out of order, the manual was missing and the individual parts just sort of crammed into their styrofoam slots without any regard. One of the wheel assemblies on the locomotive also came off immediately. Haven't bothered to run it yet but I suspect more bad news.

The full refund was only half of what I paid plus the return shipping!.

This train set I purchased on Amazon could not work properly. The tracks were bumpy at the connections, and the cars continual separated and/or the engine went off the track. I paid about $27 to return this set several days after I received for a full refund. However I only received half. I received $101 for a full refund for a $202 charge plus the return shipping. The N Scale is not a train set for beginners or for young people. I was a first time train set buyer, I even ordered more N scale tracks that I am keeping because of the poor return practices. I am very dissatisfied with this transaction.
